I have a fibre sand topped with rubber chip menage and up to now have been leveling it by towing a metal gate behind my tractor mower. I am now looking at something a bit more user friendly as I find the gate pretty heavy to get into position and then have to rake in the edges by hand. Any recommendations please.

We have a very different surface (basalt and other bits?). We had the surfaced renovated (scrapped back, bottom stuff fluffed up, top stiff putt back level). And we bought an Arena Mate - life changing!!!! After 20 years of towing a pallet type thing after digging edges out, I can do it all with one 'thing'. It has a side bit that pulls the edges out and then you flatten it. Its heavy but I can hitch/unhitch by myself (I'm quite small) and as its wider than the pallet thing its much quicker. When you finish you raise it a couple of inches so the build up spreads out and you don't have a lumpy bit to rake by hand. They come and see you , set it up at the right height etc so you can try it and you either buy it or they take it away at no charge. You cans spend as long as you like having a play ie do your whole arena to make sure you are happy. They have different models to suit different surfaces. If I hadn't dug edges out for 20 years I may have thought it was expensive but i'm too old for that now.....I think it was about £800? You are unlikely to get second hand as they last forever and no one sells

^^^ Arenamate, brilliant things. They have different versions for different surfaces. They bring it out, set it up on your towing vehicle and give you a free demo - you only pay if you decide to keep it , or at least they did when I bought mine. It has a side blade that you can use to bring in the edges when needed.

I’ve a sand and rubber surface, and use the type 1 leveller with tines behind my SORNed 4x4. Had it about 5 years now.

The office peeps are very helpful, so if you want to discuss your surface and your tractor mower with them do, they won’t give you any bull.
