Just out of interest, how much do you pay for use of the lights and how do you sort it out if there's a couple of people using the school at the same time? does it cause any arguments?

When we had a yard we never charged for people using the lights. Just included it in the cost of livery and nagged them incesantly about leaving them on.

We don't have lights so I'm subjected to lunging/riding with a head torch but the place I looked at moving to charge £6 ph for the school lights (as well as £45 p/w DIY livery!!)

dont pay extra for it, its included in the base price. If it wasnt the arguments would be mad thinking sometimes you can ride in there with kids who work at the RS etc

We are installing school lights this week and wont be charging. However we have asked the liveries not to abuse this facility by leaving the lights on, otherwise they will be charged !

The yard I am moving to has a meter - its £1 an hour which I don't object to at all! Its all swings and roundabouts really, usually the same people riding at the same times, so we will take turns in paying! Plus I'm really the only one who ever schools for a whole hour!!

I'm not charging anything, I think it's very mean when a yard charges or puts in a metre. My lights will be on a timer, from 4.30 - 9.00 in winter, and my electrian has put in a sensor so that the lights can't be turned on when it's light!

Flipping heck!

we have 2 lights that we can use for free, the two at the top of the arena we are charged £2 per hour as for some reason when you turn them they eat electricity. lucky for us the free ones are excellent and we dont need to use the others
