I have an existing Ransfords woodchip arena. Sadly original contractor is dead. It needs a top up and the company is being less than helpful on how much we should order. Does anyone have any experience of this.

I wouldn’t advocate topping up with wood chip personally- there have been many threads on this involving some quite serious accidents in the past if you search the forum.
Woodchip hasn’t been used widely for quite some time, so I’m guessing it’s old and potentially quite rotted down, in which case a top up could be dangerous- they tend to just slip over the layers in my experience. Drainage can also become blocked up.
If you’re needing a top up, I’d look into costs to remove what’s left and put something else down (even if that’s a second hand surface). You may be able to recycle old wood chips in gateways for winter?
