We are having an arena constucted at my yard and YO is talking about having shredded carpet for the surface. I haven't seen this before and I was wondering if anyone has any experiences of it?

my RI uses it, at first it was hard work for my horse, but now its bedded down it's fine

it's really good in rain, her arena used to flood quite badly when it rained and rained, the shredded carpet has stopped that happening

Yes our yard have been looking at this its very expensive, I think it worked out @ 15k just to put on hop of our sand, only a 20 x 30 school I think? Its supposed to be very good & stop the school riding so deep, Cant say how it rides though as never seen one in action!

they have it at Beaver Hall (a competition venue near me)and it rides beautifully we are extending our arena and have just ordered a load. The stuff we've ordered is called 'clopf'. Poops it is like fibre sand little chunks of the carpet regulate moisture and it is mixed in with silica sand. It is supposed to be the closest thing to good turf.

We have it.
It was a pig to put in as we did it ourselves but brilliant surface to ride on.
Its not realy a lot more expensive than rubber either.
