I'll keep this quick as I have a lot to do today - the joys of a physiotherapy degree....one word: INTENSE.

So, not a good day results wise; it severely lacked in any of the rosette-getting joy, however it was a really good day overall and I am chuffed to bits :smile3:

Took Socks to Arena UK's halloween show today to do the British Novice and then the 95cm Amateur, seeing as they were consecutive classes....really couldn't be bothered to wait for ages after the BN to do the Disc....so thought sod it, I'll cut off 5cm from my usual height! haha! Although I will add, I was SO impressed at the effort Arena UK had made for their halloween themed show!!! Every fence was themed in some way including hanging skeletons/skulls/witches/ghouls on wing stands, pumpkins under and around fences, witch manikin hovering in the arena..and one fence had haunted house wings with a witch hiding in it! But standard ol' donkey Socks didn't even notice and jumped them all anyway!

Socks warmed up ridiculously lazy to start off with...not sure why....but he was super unresponsive to my legs, so off I sent mum back to the lorry to fetch my spurs - he moved once I gave him a tweak with those ;) Once he had got going he was jumping lovely, so off I took him into the BN. Was a nice enough course, just had an unlucky four faults due to me riding a bit of a poor line to no.2 so we were on a tiny angle....I reckon if it had been 1m and not 90cm Socks might have tried a bit harder, as for the whole round he wasn't overly trying if I'm honest, but it felt fine overall :smile3:

Bit of a wait for the 95cm Amateur, but finally, after a wee wait I got to walk the course - my GOD I needed a satnav....Arena UK don't usually do courses like this I find, but wow, it was twisty..and quite random i.e. usually I can guess what fence is next, but I would have no idea..and find the next fence somewhere weird....Oh well!! Off we went to quickly re-warm up, and popped him round the 95cm. He felt fab :) really flew round but unfortunately just breathed on a pole in the jump off to end of 4 faults - but we had a decent time so if we'd have gone clear we would've definitely got placed....I think overall there were only about 7 clears in the end out of about 46?! Course was causing carnage if I'm honest...poles everywhere, refusals, eliminations...so I felt quite chuffed with my mere 4 faults!! :biggrin3:

Plenty pats for the ginger pony, and also one or two for me for not firing him today ;) haha, it was a much better outing than last time and I even got a photo (hopefully the link works?)

(I know I am a tad over bent in my position...but oh wellllllll it was the last fence and I think I got a bit over excited to get over it as quick as possible hahaha).

Wont be competing for the rest of the month as I will be needed to work at weekends as I work in a shop part time..and christmas is indeed approaching so it gets manic and busy! But I am hoping to get a few lessons slotted in between my lectures during the week!! :smile3:

Thanks for reading!!

well done :smile3:

it's great that he wasn't bothered by any of the decs - my usually-spooky boy wasn't bothered by the ones at my yard and yet my so-called confidence-giver-won't-stop-at-anything had a mini meltdown over a banner. :tongue3:
