Having a bit of a dilema, was originally going to go 20mins down the road for some SJ/ indoor XC but their running pure SJ along side as well and due to comittments in the evening i think it's going to take forever to get through the classes!

I then discovered arena uk have some indoor xc on as well, so i'm debating whether it would be worth going their instead? I've never been before and it'll take us a good 45mins-1hr, have they ever run this type of thing before? Anyone know what the course will be like, rustic fences or proper portable xc fences? My horse whilst she's a good SJer has never done any xc before so not sure whether it might freak her out! lol

So is it worth the trip or should i stick to the local venue?

Thanks in advance!

Well firstly, Arena UK has excellent facilities so it's always worth going!

I'm not sure whether they've run this before, they haven't as far as I know but happy to be corrected. I don't think they own a set of 'indoor XC jumps' (the Jump for Joy ones) so unles they hire or borrow some, I would guess they'll put something together using their WH jumps.

One word of warning - they always build well up to height, so that coupled with scary XC jumps, I'd stick within your capabilities rather than pushing for the bigger class (if you see what I mean!)

Fantastic venue, the main arena is a lovely size and there are 2 small indoor working in arenas and then depending what is open loads of outdoor working in areas as well. Plenty of car parking on a hard surface.
As far as i know they have never run this sort of thing before, i show jumped up there the other week and asked the question about solid jumps and was told there would be a combination of more solid fences and working hunter style.
They always build good courses up there and they are generally upto height.
Most importantly there is a nice heated cafe that serves reasonable food and has a view of the arena!

if you google arenauk and go onto their website, then look on 'whats on', there are lots of photos of the indoor xc course for this sunday. it looks fab! it isn't 'jump for joy fences like JAS, but looks great. i am definately going!

I'm sure its the first time they have run this event, but as above, fantastic venue and usually exceptionally organised!

If you are choosing between Trent Valley and Arena, i'd definately and without a doubt go to Arena!!!

Up to you, you know your own horses etc, but i think the lowest class is 65cm and there is a clear round before that, so sure something for everyone!

Have fun whatever you choose!

Thanks for the replies!

Have decided we'll take a trip down there and see how it goes! Have only ever heard good things about arena uk before and having seen the pics for tomorrow's course i'm rather looking forward to it! x
