Arena walks?

Hmmm, maybe a silly question but I haven't witnessed one before - what happens? I know it's to let the horses see the arenas but do you all change rein together or is it just like warming up but just in walk (same rules of the school etc.)? Can it get a bit hairy? Are there any rules on turn-out? Limitations on numbers?

Any info much appreciated!

usually you just all walk round - not really supposed to do lateral work, but people do. you can go on either rein, just follow normal school rules - it's normally really reawlly busy! no turnout rules, no number restrictions.

I dont do arena walks - for the simple reason there is always one horse that goes totally nuts and freaks the others out. The one and only one i did on Bloss at the Winters in 2006 and some horse went totally bizerk, rider fell off, horse galloped around out of control and couldnt be caught for 5mins and caused total mayhem

Ive seen this happen quite a few times.....

my arena walk was very uneventful but that was the only one i've ever done - that was at the Winters in 2006.
