Hi,

I was looking to get an arena constructed but without drainage as the ground is sandy and drains away so quickly!

I am struggling to find a company/person who will construct it without drainage, does anyone have any recommendations of companies they used who would do it without drainage in Nottinghamshire area?

Thanks in advance

No recommendations, but you'll find someone to do it. You might need to sign that you take responsibility for the lack of drainage. Read up and figure out exactly what it is you want to do, and be realistic about the outcome.
We did this in France 20 years ago, also on well-draining land. There were only about 2-3 weeks a year it would be completely unusable for splashiness, usually after the snow when the aquifers were overflowing with melting snow ... It was very cheap to construct so we were happy with that and were realistic at point of construction in terms of what we would get, how usable it would be. I imagine with modern materials it would be better, although it does rain a lot more in the UK than where were lived in france (still, not an arid area, so we did get heavy rain, but no flooding in our area, really).

Take a look at Equestrian Direct Surfaces. We had an arena put down by one of their contractors and didn't have any hardcore or drains put down. They have (or had) a membrane which allows water through it and sat on a prepared surface. This was great for us because we don't own the yard we're on and they didn't want hardcore put down. We had a sand and flexiride surface put down on top and it's great. A few years on, it does puddle a bit after heavy rain, and it has been known to freeze, but most of the time it's useable. Hope this helps.

As above Equestrian Direct have a surface which they can put down without drainage. It’s apparently not suitable for heavy usage though, but am assuming it’s just for your own use at home, so should be fine?
