This weekend has been gorgeous, and today has been hot, hot, HOT! (Slight exaggeration, but not used to having double figures without a minus sign in front of it!)
Anyway, so apart from me getting sunburnt (had factor 30 on and everything )...what did we encounter today? A big stinging bee!!!!:eek::mad:

Madam spangle has a big lump on her nose but she's had an antihistamine and seems ok (stinger is definitely out) but anyone got any useful tips on how to discourage them...they seem to love her! This one seemed to sting under no provocation either, very peculiar!

Any advice much appreciated from a red and slightly tender numptynovice! :o

The bee was possibly stil a bit dopey after winter as they don't normally sting unless provoked.
Glad doglet is OK though. As far as dissuading them I am afraid I have no idea. Mine try to eat them so are completely crazy!!
I fear the worst for you though NN. If you are already burnt in April!! :D

ETA what about horsey fly spray. Have never tried it on a dog so a patch test maybe first.

Stupid dog likes the taste of fly spray! We usually "liberally spritz" (i.e fling bucket loads) of Avon Skin So Soft when we're somewhere full of midges but the bees seem immune! Shall have to come up with a plan I think, I'd conveniently forgotten how much stingy things like her until today.

Skin has thankfully calmed down so I'm not lobster coloured anymore - damn Scottish skin! :D
