ARGGHHH!! What to do... buying a horse

I think is good Lippyx is having a wobble far to many people waltz into horse ownership without enough thought she will be a better owner for it because it is a big step.
On the over budget horse if you like it buy it the cheap bit is the purchase it's worth spending a little more for one you are really sure about but get it vetted .
Good luck enjoy owning your own.

Well, its in the hands of fate. IF he passes, then its meant to be.... Its booked for Friday!!! I am going to be a nervous wreck come Friday!!! My friend is also getting a horse vetted this week, so together we can sit by the phones, waiting for that call!!!

That's a good attitude I hope he passes .

I am in the exact same situation as you... I've just bought my first horse (and a baby one at that!) and have had all the same 'what ifs' as you, I still have sleepless night worrying now, but I am very much a worrier in general! I've wanted a horse for as long as I can remember and know I can afford it and know ill be a responsible owner so I think it is just a case of having 'cold feet' which I think/hope is normal before a big life changing purchase! Like others have said I think it's sensible to have these doubts rather than walking around with your head in the clouds like I see so much with horse owners around me!

I think if you know he's right then it would be silly to pass up on it :) I hope the vetting goes well!

I was exactly the same when I got my boy in July and am still worrying now that I won't have enough time to keep him fit over winter as soon as the clocks go back. But I love him dearly and haven't really noticed much difference financially (though that could just be because I've swapped saving for our wedding for keeping a horse!). I think horses can cost as little or as much as you want them to. My boy is on part-livery and I'm forever reassuring myself that if our situation changed we'd have the option to move to DIY which would be easily affordable on one salary.

Lippyx - you'll be absolutely fine. Good luck with the vetting hun x
