to get to our stables from the field, you have to cross a road. its not very busy, and there is an indent where we stand the horses till its clear to cross. the horses do this more then once daily and are fine with it, and normally the cars are lovely and slow down.

well today, i turned missy around to close the gate when a tractor with a HUGE load of onions on the back sped past WAY to fast and a few onions fell off and smacked missy on the bum, que, me holding on to 17.1hh of horse who was freaking out, trying to bolt and trample me, trying to shut gate and stop traffic. argh!! the cars after the tractor where lovely though. and asked if we were ok. but now missy has a cut on her leg and i spent the whole evening hosing.

blooming tractors.

i know! i will also mention that the stables are on a huge working farm and most of the tractors belong to the farm or a local farm. both of which know horses are regually crossing there and should know better.

Do you know who was driving? Maybe a quiet word?

My neighbour was involved in a, luckily, fairly harmless accident with a tractor and silage trailer and she had all the local drivers up at her farm by that evening for a talk on horses and how to drive round them!!!! She's brilliant like that, I would never have the guts!

I once waved frantically at my local farmer (towing a sugar beet trailer) to get him to slow down only to find his son was driving and thought I was just waving an enthusiastic 'hello'.

A quiet word with his mother meant a bottle of wine and an apology! Worth a go - you may get a years supply of onions??!

haha. i blooming hope so!

think a word will be had tomorrow.
