argh bridle sizes! warmbloods

Im going slowley mad trying to find a bridle for my warmblood. Hes been in XL since i had him but his current carlyle is big on the cheeks and small on the nose .

Im looking now at a hunter style even though he is hanno x as he really hates crank nosebands which most of the XF seem to be in my price range.

The hunter style seem to be bigger everywhere to the point I can get a full size on him until it comes to the brow band.


What size bridles do you have on your 17hh + warmbloods/hannovarians ?

We had a similar problem with our warmblood mare - we couldn't find a complete bridle for sale that fit her everywhere and ended up in one of the local saddlery shops putting one together from pieces. luckily they were all from one range - it was slightly more expensive but fitted. We ended up with a grackle noseband though.

Py had a full (James Sterling Bridle) and he's 17.2 DWB, but they do vary, my own horse WB/ID/TB (or so he's supposed to be) sometimes a FS doesn fit around the nose band, but WB tends to be a tad bit too big on the sides (fits but not half way up so you have an even amount to drop or hitch up a few notches)

Have you considered buying seperate peices (if you can that is) so you can tailer your current bridle to fit better, its always usefull to have a few spair check peices, head peices so you swap about if needs be.

I had the same problems - the only solution was a Passier which fitted well - quite costly but it has lasted well & has good rubber reins.

17hh WB I used to ride had FS cheek pieces, XF headpiece and XF noseband and browband lol

My friends 4yr old warmblood was in xl but the browband became too small so she had to send off for a made to measure one from the manufacturer.

my local saddlery does do peices but id be looking at over £100 and at the minute we need a new saddle as well so its a bit of a no no. I wonder if I ought to buy a full size and then a new brow band if needed :\

gonna ride in a head collar and attach the bit to it lol

i am in the same situation. Just forked out for saddle, dentist and physio for new wb so my FS bridle is having to be made to fit! he seems to be FS cheek and headpiece but cob noseband (he has a really dished face) and XF browband. he is a bit of a jumble sale kid at the moment!
