I'm so excited! We're going to watch the eventing and the 4-inhand driving! Poss a bit of SJ too! Wooo! I may die walking around the XC and the marathon courses in one day, espcially in 30degree weather (I totally don't do heat, can't cope today!) but it's gona be so cool! I shall take many many photos! Theres an awsome ride and jump class too. YAY! Only scary is that we're gona drive and i've never driven abroad....

We're going to be there friday and saturday if anyone is going. I don't speak a word of german so it could be interesting!

the XC and marathon course in Aachen are very compact. You can actually see quite a bit of it from the main showground, or you could at WEG2006 anyway!
Enjoy - great showground with fantastic facilities and viewing but hide your credit cards, the shopping is also v.good!

Just saw this bit - when we went to Aachen 3 yrs ago, we said, oh well lets enjoy this, we won't be able to afford to go to Kentucky. Now I've hopefully got a commission for Kentucky (tho we're paying our own expenses

Driving on the wrong side of the road is not as hard as it sounds. To start with, follow someone who (looks like they) know what they're doing. If in doubt pretend you're riding in the warm-up arena and try to pass near-side to near-side!

As for German, the first thing to learn is "ein bier bitte" (a beer please), then "noch ein bier bitte" (another beer please). If you didn't like the beer then try "ein anderes bier bitte" (a different beer please)! Once you've mastered these everything gets easier!

Thanks or all the advice people! Only issue now if that we ordered the tickets online and the conformation e-mail is in german! ARGH!

Yay Rara, we might meet after all! lol I'll have to traul FB for a pic of you to take with lmao. I just saw only Karen Basset is there... oh well, theres Boyd Excell and the eventers and jumpers. The ride and Jump class sounds cool!

Lol, I'm sure I can become accustemed to beer.... but we are taking the car so not too much! Yay for creaping out other nationalities!

The ride and jump class is top SJ'ers and the top drivers from the obstacle driving the day before, SJ'er jumps 8 fences leaps off, jumps on back step of carriage with driver and does 8 obstacles. Sounds like fun

I think someone should either do a 2DE, driving all 3 phases one day, riding the next, or a ride and drive similar type thing, same rider and horse

Have a wonderful time. Best tip I ever had was as you set off in the car say over and over again " I must be in the gutter" !! Makes me laugh everytime I say it to my self when in Europe but it has worked for me when driving right hand drive cars over there. Have lots of fun look forward to seeing the photo's when you get back
