I love my yard the bulk of the time... we are pretty much left to our own devices but that does have its downsides too... like when ONE poxy livery choses to go running to the YO (who is NEVER around) with an issue rather than having an Adult conversation with the people she has issues with... don't need this sort of headache on a sunday!!! Arghhh!

I just want a nice yard of my own with nice Big fields, enough grass to keep my horse and his friends busy, big stables, and a decent school... oh and a nice millionaire to pay for it all!!

Well i have the nice yard, big fields, great stables.... could do with the school and millionaire to pay forit though.... lol :D

LOL I keep debating whether to move to livery from somewhere when Im on my own. I dont have a school and a busy road to get to any hacking, not sure if the petty arguments that come with livery yards is worth it yet , one thing I miss dearly is anyone to hack with.

I'm not actualy sure what I'd miss if I wasn't at a livery yard!

I am quite happy pottering about on my own down there - even in the dark, I always used to ride on my own as a kid and now when I ride with company I find it quite annoying sometimes!! always having to think about someone else! lol!

I just hate all the bitchines... I don't understand why people cant just have adult conversations with eachother about their problems / issues and instead have to involve the Y/O who has a different set of rules for each individual livery (litterally) and a completely different set for herself of course ;o)...

If I knew of a yard in my area that didn't cost a bomb, with decent grazing that isn't fenced with barbed wire, access to good hacking and a school I would be very tempted right now...

We're both (me and bedbug) at a small yard - 6 horses, 5 liveries (including yard owner and my instructor) all adults ( I know - yah-boo...) and we all have a good laugh, take the mickey out of each other, have a school, hacking isn't much but it means we do more fun rides...

We've actually put our smallholding search on hold pretty much permanently now as we just wouldn't get that social interaction if we are on our own and it just wouldn't be as fun.

Also when we go away for a day or week our horses get looked after. No extra cost (or very minimal) cos if anybody else goes away they know we'll do it for them too, including the YO. As I say it's a small yard and we all pitch in - maintenance, looking after wee beasties, changing stuff round. Any prospective liveries get vetted by all of us. Stops the personality clashes before they have chance to root and cause friction. Don't get me wrong - it's not cliquey - we're just all laid back and don't mind havin the fun poked now and then and expect anybody else to have a sense of humour too. If you can't stand the heat... :D

BUT yes we have both been on one of "those" yards where the bitchiness is rife, The YO's family is a blanket short of a picnic, keep your head down or it'll get shot off, look at the state of that riding... etc etc

Just gotta find the right place and if you like it busy - that's more people, more chance for the fireworks to kick off...
