So I was having a rather nice day, been out for lunch with a friend, starting to really look forward to the local village show tomorrow (see my other thread about pushy parents!), planning on finishing work early tonight and going home to ride my wonderful Big Ears. And then my boss from my part time job texts me (he always texts me, which I personally am starting to find a bit rude. Why can't he ring and ask me stuff?) telling me that I need to go into work tonight as he's promised that I'll take a foal registration pack to the races on Sunday for a horse owner.
Now second job is twenty minute drive in the opposite direction of home, and he's text me again to say that a horse owner has provided a second choice name for a foal (first was taken) and I can do the passport tonight while I'm there. This has put me in quite a grumpy mood.
I know I could just refuse, and say that I'll be in the office as planned on Monday or Tuesday evening, but (a) he knows I have nothing planned tonight other than going for a ride (the drawbacks of being Facebook friends with your boss) and (b) he's planning on retiring and handing over the running of the PIO to me (subject to the directors' approval), which would become a full time job for me and something I am DESPERATE to do. This, of course, he knows, so has started to dump loads of extra stuff on me because he knows full well I can't say no.
I'm not really after advice (I'm sure you'll all say what my mum said when I text her, which is 'tell him to bugger off and you'll be in next week', or you'll say I'm lucky to have the job), I just wanted a rant. It doesn't feel right it being such a lovely day and me being in such a grump! And I don't want to miss out on special time with Big Ears, because we've just started our learning process together and deep down I know she loves me taking her out for rides!
Rant over (thanks for listening, if you got through all of it!)
