Hi
My horse was turned out this morning after stopping in last night due to bad weather. There was no sign of a problem. This evening I brought him in to ride and noticed that he would only only put weight on his toe. This is in one of his hind legs. He's reluctant to put weight on this leg except the toe, same on soft and hard surfaces.
He also came in covered in mud today, is it possible he's fallen trying to get up as it was wet and slippy and pulled something. There's a small amount of heat and swelling above his fetlock. I haven't ruled out an abscess either although I can't see any signs of a puncture.
He's not shod behind as old and doesn't do much.
Really worried about him. Any suggestions appreciated.
