Shall try not to swear.
Went to check today, wire snipped all through.
Mega annoyed, brand new load of barbed wire nailed heavily through the gap and dumped a load of chicken muck underneath to deter. Hasnt worked though.
Sorry but.... Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Its driving me mad ! My horses and sheep could get out !
Has anyone else got any ideas? Considering wooden fencing has been sawn through too.

Sorry about the ranting ! ^-^
xxxx

My god what is wrong with people!!!!! Why on earth would they want to cut your fencing? Can you get some pretty strong electric fence, connected to mains and give them a bit of a shock next time they do it :-0 Could try coating wooden fence in something really nasty and sticky so it will get stuck all over whoever touches it?

Hahaha, I really wish I could !
I have though about it but its a small section far away from the house and im worried that they would simply pinch the battery, since they have been persistent enough to bring wire cutters down.

I can see this becoming a sit in to catch them :(

That is one determined trespasser considering they must have gone out with a saw so must have tried before and seen the way blocked.

I would hope the police would want to be involved and if it was me look to have some sort of alarm installed if such a thing is possible.

Very worrying.

Just read your previous posts and feel sorry for you with this problem, it must be very unnerving. I like the idea of sticky grease on the wood/wire - something that will stain their clothes/hands.
Also I bought a "CCTV in operation" notice and a dummy camera cheaply - could you put this up on a post/tree facing across (even if it doesnt work they hopefully wont go near enough to find out).
Shame you havent a dog handler police friend who could patrol the field for a few nights!

I know. Its criminal damage. Spoken to local police there is not much they can do but sent PCSOs down to walk near there on the off chance.

I saw a guy in the field the other day he was walking his dogs, so legged it off down the field after him and asked him what he was doing as it is private land.
He seemed to focus on asking me was it really our land and did we even use this field. (the cheek!) Then made some feable excuse about his dogs running off.
So think I have my suspect, a belligerent dog walker. Though may be people setting snares also.

Yes I think maby if I can hire/borrow/buy one. To be honest it would be worth it to see the b**ger banged to rights or at least a good ticking off by the police ! :@

Just google the phrase I put above, you can get them for around £125 AND you can monitor them from your computer, or are usually loads on ebay. Whilst it may seem a lot to outlay, if you can find the money you can always put it to use (once you have solved this problem) monitoring your yard or horses. Brilliant tools, I'm not sure how I ever managed without them!

We have dog walkers who go out armed with wire cutters all the time, not something I would think of taking when I take our dog out!

OP - have you tried the paint that companies put on gates that looks and feels dy but comes off on clothes and skin when any decent pressure (like holding or climbing) is put on it?

that way at least you'd give them a harmless warning that you know what's going on, and it might point you in the right direction! It does not come of clothes, and it very difficult to get off skin.

Oooh ! Thats an excellent idea, Im familiar with several of the regular dogwalkers and im sure they would alert me if they saw a man with yellow hands and bum walking around ! :D

I suggest a harmless mouse trap! Scares the bl00dy life out of people in the dark!! Also the paint idea is fab, you can also get ink that shows under UV light... Maybe a camera and the ink for proof? Ooh it's like playing detectives!:D

I think the specialised paint is an excellant idea.

Cant help thinking its more likely to be lampers coming out at night rather than a dog walker.

Yes well one of our cats got a snare cought round it in the fields around ours :( so thinking it as a deffinate possibility.
My dog walker thought comes from having caught a couple of individuals walking their dogs in the field, and well, some get it into their heads they can just trample anywhere and seem intent on following that.

Feel for you OP.
We had people cutting the top wire of our fence (electric) so they could climb over.
We suspect they were badger hunting, with CROSSBOWS  We found the 'arrows' or whatever they are called in the field.
This was whilst my horses were out too.
The police came out once I think, but to no avail.

Luckily they stopped coming after about two weeks, I think they ran out of badgers.

If I ever caught the buggers, I'll tell you now, I would be armed and dangerous with a pitchfork and a shovel. I am one scary-a55 b1t4 when I'm mad.
I find people are very scared of horse-women, when angry, especially when angry and armed. :P

Try filling in the gaps with fencing made of drain pipe. The uprights have slots cut in and the rails are made of drainpipe. It is difficult to cut, also tie a personal alarm to a post, use wire fron the pull pin on the alarm and the other end of the wire to the next post along, if the wire is thin enough it will not be seen, but will pull the pin out if anyone walks through, thus setting the alarm off. Should give them a scare :)

Or a 15' pit, lightly covered by net with grass over the top, couldn't deny it then when you had to pull them out the next day (or you could just leave them there as a warning to other fence destroyers):D

Ooh yes ;) maybe throw some water and sharks in there too, but keep the net, then the hungry sharks can taunt them all night ;) then leave them hanging for other fence offenders to see, then stick a sign on the hanging net saying 'thus is what happens if you vandalise people property for the Effing hell of it!'

Oh if only !

My aunt says, be warned this is very gross; but a local farmer up near her in Yorkshire, well .... whenever the terrier or cat kills a rat he gets it and pins up on his fence that he has had problems with by the road, and leaves the festering thing there.

Mega gross I know. But apparently it works ... wonder why ? :P

geese can be excellent guarding animals and will let you know the second some body starts stepping onto your land.
