Are these worth the £200+ they retail at?
Am looking for some decent boots for everyday riding in and really like the look of the H20 boots in brown. However at £200 they are rather alot of money so would be expecting them to last a few years at least! won't be wearing them for mucking out etc, mainly for riding in only :)
I looked at the short ariat boots with gaiters but maybe a bit of a pain getting them off and on again and messing about with the gaiters.
Are there any cheaper alternatives which are just as nice quality?

In a word. Yes!

I don't have the H2O, but the Grassmeres, I am now on my second pair after destroying my last pair. I wore them every single day for hours for 3 years. They were battered at the end of it, but they put up a serious fight! Very good quality. I think if you were just using them to ride in, they would last even longer! :P

Yup, wait till after Christmas and buy a pair of Ariat Bromonts (f you just want to ride in them) or Grasmeres for doing everything on ebay for around £100. That's what I did:D

all sounds positive :)
I can't justify spending that amount on a pair of boots for competition only but do love them in brown for everyday wear. I have some saxon ones that look smart for showing/dressage etc :)

I love my ariat's and wouldn't buy anything else now. They stand up to loads of abuse and i never clean them, and they've all last me well.

Grassmeres for riding and yard duty I managed to get mine in a random sale through Edgemere website for £130 i think - I then went on to but some Ariat comp boots too.

The Grassmeres are amazing

I am looking at the insulated Bromonts. Had the measurements from Ariat and I only need the regular fit, but am worried they'll be too long. Ariat lady on email said they supply heel inserts and she's sent me some extra, also said they'll drop around half an inch with wear.

Do all of you guys who have Ariat Bromonts have lovely long dressage legs, or are there some normal stumpy people like me who wear them?! ;)

Yes I am a total convert now. I have the grasmeres for when its colder, telluride boots for everyday and have just got the bromonts for smart. Wouldnt wear anything else now.

I would go and try some on. I found the sizes a little bit big. Also I would say I have long-ish legs and my bromonts cut into the back of my leg to begin with

Ariat boots are amazing, so worth the money. I have the short Ariat boots which were £175 new  (they've got the weird sole- air speed or something) They've lasted years.

Im hoping I get the Ariat Bromonts for xmas :D

I love Ariat! I have the insulated bromonts for riding in, I have short legs but the regulars are fine on me- I've had them for 2 full years now, however the zips did break (the pully thingy snapped!), but ariat sent me some new zips for free and I got them sown in at local cobbler. My OH bought me the windermeres for my birthday, they are SO nice! Don't ride in those though (or do anything too mucky, I'm scared of getting them dirty lol!) :)

BQ - don't suppose you know what your calf height measurement is by any chance do you? I'm 5ft4 and measured my calf height at just over 17in... the size 5.5 are 18.3in high so they'll still be quite long even when they've dropped half an inch...

I'm only 5ft 5 and they are fine on me.:)

Another Ariat fan here, I have the Ariat mules (which I know are not a boot lol) but had a pair for about 2 1/2 years wore them all the time, so comfortable, before they bit the dust, but had already orderd another pair which came up a bit big so hadn't wore them alot, but had noticed the sole was coming apart, only had them about 6 mnths, the shop changed them for a new pair :-)..
Daughter wares the short boot "Devon pro" I think! with the close contact chaps in waxed brown, look very smart.
The last pair she had in black and lasted about 5 yrs, well worth the money!

Just killed my first pair of brown heritage jod boots, say killed, but still wear them if dry as leather has split. I have done everything in these boots, mucked out, rode, calved cows, lambed, shooting, stomped across moors in them. excellent boots. Now have black ones which i wear with gaiters and also have a pair of Coniston long boots, the ones with the zip up the back and laced fronts. The long pair has to be the warmest pair of leather boots on the market, never have cold feet, even with one pair of socks.

oh my word yes the most defiinitely are!!

mine are now 10yo and still going strong! they are the ariat cobalt devon pro short boots. they are comfy, warm and smart. I've worn them for 3 years pretty much all day everyday when I was working at a feed merchants and they are incredible. the only boots that we never ever had a complaint with! Ariat's customer service is incredible too - we were sent an odd 'pair' once and they swapped them by next day courier service.

I have the Bromonts and they are fab as long as you look after them they will last for years. I only use mine for riding and try to get into the habit of cleaning them! Normally clean them when I clean my tack which isn't very often! Lol
