I am desperately trying to order a pair of Ariat Bromonts tonight in the hope they might arrive in time for a competition on saturday! ( I know but I can live in hope!)
My calve measures just under 14"/36cm when I have my socks on, so I need advice on the fit of these! Do any of you lovely people have a similar size calve and can you fit into a standard 36" calve boot or did you need to go for the wider one? I've managed to find a standard calve on a website at a good price and offering 48hr delivery so I'm ever hopefull!

Thanks!

I wear 14.5" ariat or tredstep chaps and the standard fit me perfectly

They are snug to start with but they soon drop.

It more at the ankle the standards are smaller.

I have 14 1/2 calf and 17 height in gaitors and my bromont were very tight at the ankle in a standard so i had to change them for a wide fitting.

Oh dear, not as straightforward as I'd hoped! I have Conistons in a standard but as they are laced it's really not a problem.
If I happen to drive past a tack shop tomorrow I might try and pop in for a quick try but need to think whether it's worth making the online purchase tonight - it's a cheap deal though!

OMG, can't believe I am doing this.

But anyway.

Round ankle, no socks, right at the bottom over the bony bits (about 4" off the floor in bare feet) 9.75"

7" up leg: 10"

calf (still no socks) 14"

Like I say, the standards are fine on me - snug at the top to start with but after a few wears they stretch slightly and fit perfectly now. I wouldn't want the wide ones.

Be warned though - the first time you wear them they will dig in at the back of the knee unless you have very long legs!

I think the regular will be tight on you. I have just bought a regular pair and I have 13inch calves. They were tight to start with but have stretched to be comfy now. My friend who persuaded me to buy them has 14.5 calves and has the wide.

Milliepops - you are a star and my leg twin!!! Thank you!

I think I'll take the chance and order them online tonight - if they don't fit and can't be returned I'm sure I can make my money back on Ebay!

Thanks again!

Add socks and jods to flesh measurements and youll be surprised how much width it ads! I would measure over unless you plan on going riding in the buff lol.

I have very small ankles and could only just just the standards done up over my jods and the zip would have split before long ( well the zip went after 2 years anyway and they looked scruffy after a few months so not really comp suitbale at that point so they became yard boots ).

Strange isn't it, because I wear mine with jeans underneath (massive flared jeans at that!)

Although I have had both pairs for about 2 years now so they are well worn in.
