Does anyone have these? what do you think of them? do they stay smart? i only want to use them to compete. i am thinking of getting them in waxed chocolate.
also does the fact that they are insulated make them too warm for summer riding? i cant find non-insulated ones in brown anywhere!
just wanted to get some reviews before spending, thanks

Most retailers won't now have the non-insulated ones in stock until the Autumn but you may get lucky on ebay!

I have the insulated ones, for day to day use only, and I love them! Unbelievably comfortable, needed no breaking in and seem to last well. Mine are the oiled black which probably wouldn't polish up very well but a friend has the waxed chocolate and they polish up beautifully.

I do find mine far too hot in this weather but many people do not - I think it tends to depend on how much you feel the heat as an individual.

Great boots though and worth every penny :)

I do love mine, so comfy. However... I haven't been impressed with how they've lasted. I clean them regularly, use the Ariat waxed leather conditioner and polish on them, but they've cracked really badly. They're about 18 months old and the stitching inside (where the lining is stitched onto the leather) has started to come undone. Really unhappy as I thought they would last longer.
They are very warm to ride in during summer but I don't like riding in anything else so have stuck with them.

ok thankyou, i wonder if anywhere would order them in for me non insulated. i want them for the comfort value really i dont want to be wearing something in for a few weeks first!

I love mine, and I can't say I find them too hot in the Summer, even though that was my slight concern when I bought the insulated ones.

I've got the waxed black insulated ones for everyday use - they are far and away the most comfortable long boots I've ever had. Be sure to get them fitted properly though - I would never have bought the size recommended to me if left to my own devices as I thought the calf was far too tight (gave me pins and needles the first time I wore them). They stretch quickly though as the leather is soft, a couple of rides in and mine were perfect. In this kind of weather they are a little warm, but nothing worse than already having breeches and a hat on!

I can't comment on longevity as I've only had mine about 6 months - they still look ok so far, and I seem to remeber there's some kind of warranty that covers zips, possibly stitching too?

Chestnut cob, send them back. I had two pairs that I have returned for various reasons, Including the leather cracking, and each time they sent me a new pair.

Its worth a go. Not all of the pairs last the way they should.

My problem is that I have nothing else to ride in if I send them back, can't afford to go out and buy short boots/chaps for whilst Ariat have them because I can't guarantee how long they'll keep them for). And surely they'll just say that once they're over a year old, they aren't interested because they can say I haven't looked after them? I'm just pretty unimpressed - they're v comfy, took no breaking in at all, and they're lovely to ride in but the stitching is coming apart, they've cracked all around the ankle and across the top of the foot, and they didn't remain waterproof for more than a few months... :/

I find Ariat boots soooo comfy but the longest they have ever lasted me is a year!! The pair I have now the stitching has just started goin and they are about 6months old. Pair before that lasted 4 months!! I do wear them all day every day tho

I love mine but they have now started to come away at the stitching by the zip and the panel at the back has started to go all funny/disintegrate?! I emailed them but they said as they were over a year old there was nothing they could do, not impressed. They were not cheap! The zip also falls down if i wear them for longer than 20mins. But, I wouldnt ride in anything else so im going to have to live with it :(

ooo ok thankyou. i will go and try some for size and maybe shop around a bit more if theyre not 100%. i do only want them to compete in so probably wont be getting all the wear and tear of everyday use as i have others to ruin for that!
thanks for all your replies

I've got two pairs (one oiled black for day to day and one waxed black for competition) and the previous pair lasted 4.5 years until the zips gave up the ghost. Really like them and v comfy. Ps the previous pair had a good hammering and were used for day to day and comps!
