I just thought I'd let you know how much I love my new boots. I got them for £200 brand new from an auction site - the seller was a proper shop not an individual - pm me if you need to know who, but they are Fab-U-Lous!! I am on the, ahem, stumpy side and on a good day, stretched out with a slight heel lift, I am pushing the dizzy heights of 5'3"!! I am also sturdy of leg, I am not quite wide calf, but not standard calf either and bizarrely, my calf seems to start lower down my leg than the rest of the human race! Well, I bit the bullet due to the price and ordered them in the full calf.... Oh my, they are good.... They arrived and I looked at them and thought that there is no way in a million I could get my sturdies in those, but with tactical use of a coat hanger as zip pulls and standing in a weird riding/constipated type position, I got them on and as predicted, they were tight, and unsurprisingly hit the back of my knee, so I wore them to my children's drama performance last night just over tights, and again today Christmas shopping - they are like they were made for me! They are also so very pretty, I'm not sure I want to wear them to the yard now!! :p

Wow this is really interesting, I'm also short (5'2) and don't have supermodel calves. I've always wanted a pair of bromonts but never thought they'd fit. Do you have heel raisers in yours?

I love mine....had them several years and still going strong. Keep my feet toasty in winter and not too hot in summer.

I got mine off eBay too....£135 BNWT ....unwanted gift, wrong size bought or something ;)

Happy days!! I have tried other famous and popular makes like MH but the comfort factor is poles apart, I'm a definite Ariat convert, I have the grasmeres too and they are like slippers.....mmmm!

No heel raisers, I literally got them yesterday, my leg when unshod measures 15" from floor to crease (when leg at a right angle) if that helps. When I put them on I just thought this isn't going to work but the leather close to the zip on the inside is supremely soft and is backed by a stretchy neoprene and this means they don't dig in too hard. I had them done up for the first couple of hours but drove to Ipswich last night (about 26 miles from me) and home again and all I did was loosen the zip down by about an inch and they were fine, driving in them today has been no problem done up to the top. Someone else had advised not to do the little leather strap up at the top as that makes the area thicker just below the knee, until they have dropped, so I am walking around with them flapping, but I'm 'not bovvered'!

You do realise that normal women swoon over Jimmy Choos and the like, you know...stuff with heels and sparkly bits on :biggrin3::tongue3:

Ah? I don't get it..... I don't understand - nope sorry, it just doesn't compute in my brain!!! I have a line up of boots in my utility room, I added up the cost if I needed to replace (couldn't afford to, note to self to inform insurance company of high value items ) - I'm so proud of them; and the smell of the leather... Yum!! ;) must not let husband read this, must not let husband read this, repeat to self ad infinitum

I LOVE Ariat too until I've just realised woman's sizees now stop at 7 1/2

I'm size 9 so the Ariat 8 1/2 fitted a treat :)

Must really look after my Grassmere's now as they really are irreplaceable!! :(

Glad you like your new Bromonts though OP :)

Hope valley saddlery have the grasmeres in your size - yay!!

I love my insulated bromonts, i wear them at the yard and polish them up for shows theyre so comfy and warm

Are they really "man" enough to withstand the hardships of yard work?? I know they're marketed as such but they're so pretty looking I wasn't entirely convinced! Mind you I was knee deep in all manner of mud and other fluids the other day and I just stuck my grasmeres under the tap and they came out looking like new :)

I have a pair of the non-insulated ones (in a deal post on here for the insulated ones but Derby House got their numbers wrong so gave me the NI ones instead at same deal price) but find they hit the back of my leg so I can only use them with my dressage saddle when I would like wear them for ODEs. I keep hoping they will drop. I worn mine round the house and - shock horror - poo picking to break them in before even attempting to ride in them.

Heel lifters? Sorry OP to hijack, but anyone got links to these?

I want some too! Sounds like that price tag is justified. Wonder if OH fancies treating me for Xmas? I have been a very good girl......

Dammitt!!! I have jinxed myself....went for a ride today and heard and felt the unmistakable sound of a burst zip.....and lo! My right boot is fastened at the top only...what an absolute bummer. I may have to actually ride in my Conistons:eek3::mad3:

....wanders off for a lie down...

If you email Ariat, or contact them on Facebook, they'll send you a pair of heel-raisers for free

I absolutely love ariat!! Cannot fault them! I have three pairs, one of them (short riding boots) have lasted absolute years! My conistons and bromonts are relatively new, but they are so warm and comfy!

Mine never got to the yard either! They sometimes get to come to a show as a spare set but have yet to debut in the ring.
Still wearing my old boots to the yard two years later.

Love mine too, I got mine from the US before they had been released in the UK so they're a few years old now! I just use mine purely for events but they're brilliant, love that they're totally waterproof. I'm not short but I can't do the zip right to the top as they're just a little too long.

I wanted a pair of these, but I tried on the standard calf and they were far far too baggy.

I normally take a narrow/regular width, not a real teeny tiny narrow calf.

Wish they'd do a narrower fit, I know I'm not alone in this!

I love my bromonts, have the non insulated ones, but may leave some hints around, birthday and Christmas, or I may just treat myself...

I have a normal length leg (actually a long leg for my height of 5"6) and got the short ones!! They fit perfectly :)

And I have the chunkiest calf known to man, the woman in robinsons when trying a pair of shires boots on told me I'd need fuller fillies!! Well they lost a sale!!!

How very rude!! There are ways of saying things aren't there!? I may need to lose weight but I wouldn't want it spelled out to me by a retailer!! ;)
