About 3-4 months.....then the tab broke 6 months later on the new ones so they sent me another pair free. They were very good.
They did ask me at the time if I had bought them too small but I definatley hadn't, think they have had the problem lots.
The newest pair they sent me don't do it at all...I think they may have improved the zip on them.
You may have a chance as I never had to give proof of purchase to get mine sorted, infact when the second pair broke I didn't even have to send the broken pair back to be seen!!
I have the same problem on my Mountain horse boots (new ones!!) and it is driving me crackers!! Do you think its worth getting in contact with them?! They are literally only 2 months old.... havent yet found a solution
I e-mailed them. info@ariat-europe.com
The UK distributors are the SMD Group. I think they have a website if you google them.
They are in Faringdon, Oxon.
Well, apart from returning them and getting a new pair you could try threading a piece of string through the bit of the zip you pull (what IS that called?), tying a knot to make a loop and hooking it over the press stud/ buckle before you do them up. Can't fall down then.
QR- ooh, what a helpful post! I have exactly the same problem and have had to resort to what PF suggested, but the amount you have to pay for Ariats, you dont expect them to be wonky. I've just emailed them! Wish me luck!
I know this probably isn't that helpful - but my Musto Innovation Chaps do up from top to bottom, so the zips CAN'T fall down! Don't know why anyone hasn't thought of it before?
Wow, i didn't realise this problem was so widespread! I get the same problem with my CC chaps and have from the start, although it isn;t driving me mad yet- 1 pull out during a 30min-1hr schooling session. I just assumed I was catching the top of the zip on the saddle or something odd and pulling it down!
I have the Ariat Crowne Pro chaps, not sure if they are prone to the same problem as yours or not as I've always done them up as told below!
When zip is fastened, instead of letting zip tab sit pointing down the way, I leave it pointing up and fasten the leather strip/popper over the top of it. I then tuck the wee leather tie on the zip down the back of the chap between it and my leg.
I hope that makes sense! I've never had a problem with them coming down, maybe putting the tab/popper across the top helps? Might be worth a try and it still looks neat.
i can not leave my zip up it would dig me under the knee i think!!
I just did mine up without them being on my leg...and one side is fine if you try to pull the zip gently apart.....but the side i have problems with isnt-as soon as you tocuh them it just unzips.
QR- I have just had an email back from Ariat saying to send them in and they will have a look at them for me, even though they are 18 months old. Result!!
(Dont mean to hijack post, just wanted to say its worth getting in touch
I've just sent them an email too - they're going to be inundated. Thought it was down to my leg getting fatter but as it only happens on one side, perhaps there's something dodgy about the manufacture...
