I've just contacted ariat regarding my grassmere's , I've only had then since Jan this year , I've taken good care of them and they aren't trashed by any means but are splitting around the edges and the leather is coming away from the soles.

Customer service have said to return them and check they will condtion of the leather. I'm slightly worried , what if they say I've done something wrong and don't exchange ? That's £200 gone .....

Anyone else experienced good or bad things with ariat customer service, I was soooo looking forward to having a pair last but can't seem to find any boots that last more than 9 months :(

No, go ahead! They are brilliant! I had my half-chaps for over a year and asked if the popper could be mended (I would pay) - they said send them in and they mended them for free. It happened again a few months later (don't ask what I was doing with them!? No idea!!) and I wrote again and asked if they would mend them (again, I was prepared to pay - they must have been going on for 2 years old) and they mended them for free again.

Very polite and friendly service, I might add :D

I'm sure you will be ok, but have been told by a friend before that they sent some ariat short boots back before as they split and was told by their staff that ariat boots are only meant to last 6 months and any use after that is just a bonus.

I am having a few probs with my Bromonts and contacted customer services about a month ago. I've only had them for about 9 months, don't wear them every day and I rarely ride more than one horse (ie, they're not being used every day to ride 5 horses or anything like that). I clean them after use, don't leave grease or gunk on, and regularly clean them properly with the Ariat waxed leather conditioner. Where the leather has dropped, around the ankle area, they have cracked quite badly and are no longer waterproof. Ariat did say if I sent them back they would assess them but if I do send them back, I have nothing else to ride in and I'm sure they'll just say it's normal wear and tear so I haven't bothered.

I love them as they're so comfy but so far they haven't proven to be as hard wearing as I expected. They shouldn't be so damaged and cracked when they aren't used every day, are stored inside (not left out in the cold but equally not left by the hot radiator!!), and haven't been worn to death...

 I've had my short boots for years - I only use them for riding though.

I contacted them when I was told by a sulky tackshop girl that they had stopped making the particular boots I wanted. I think she was too lazy to find out. Ariat sent what I wanted to the tackshop, who then contacted me with grovelling apologies.

I confirmed on the phone that they have a years warranty on them , assume its all ariats boots. I had to pop out and get some cheap muckboots from go outdoors and wear boots and chaps to ride in. Let hope it doesn't get too cold or my toes will drop off.

Thought I would give an update, I had bought another pair of cheaper yard boots so I could send the grassmere back, and they arrived back from ariat this morning .

They have been "re-sealed" - superglued only in the areas where the sole had come totally away from the boot, you can still se the areas where it won't take much for the sole to come away and with a compliment slip of advise to use their liquid wax conditioner.

So on that basis if you don't use it you can expect your boots to fall apart and they will superglue odd parts of them back together  would have made sense to reseal the whole sole as you can see where it's going to come part from the sole.

Guess I have three more months before £200 down the pan and nothing they will do ...... Not very blinking happy.

Ariat poppers are a nightmare. We never fasten ours!

Oh, I thought it was just me and my increasingly arthritic fingers!

My grassmeres have been brilliant - at least three years old, worn lots, yard work and riding and traipsing up and down muddy fields, do clean them fairly regularly, not with the Ariat stuff, but with NikWax!

I had some windermeres that the leather cracked and became unwaterproof so I messages and they said the same as you, to send them back which I did. They glued it back together and said to see how I went. They were still unwaterproof so I sent them an email and they sent me a brand new pair :D

Unfortunately now (a year later) I have a massive hole in the leather again so need some new yard boots. I can't afford to pay £100+ every year so unsure of what to do...
