Quick question please!

Have seen a pair of boots I was looking for on sale online, they are size 4.5. I normally wear a 5 in everything but have heard a few times that it's better to go smaller with Ariats.

I tried on a pair of Grassmeres a while ago (not the boots I'm looking at just now) in a 5, they didn't feel massive but my heel was lifting as I walked. They didn't have a 4.5 to compare to. None of my local stores have Ariats so it's a real ordeal to find any to try on.

Also I tend to wear merino socks in winter. Not really thick like ski socks, but not thin like I'd wear under my leather boots. The boots I'm looking at are particularly for warmth so I don't want to have to wear thin socks! They are short boots so leg sizing not an issue.

So go for the 4.5 or wait to find the 5?

I don't go down a size in Ariats if that helps.
Bearing in mind they are not cheap boots, you are better off finding a shop with both sizes and trying them.

Ha ha not really, I wanted you to tell me to get the ones on sale, so I can a) indulge my bargain hunting skills and b) not have to drive a 3 hour round trip ;):D

Thank you though. Now I'm even more undecided. These are £60 though so maybe worth the punt, I can always sell them on ebay if not I suppose :)

I take a size 5. I have 2 pairs of Ariat Devon Pro jodphur boots in a size 5. I bought some Grassmeres last year, tried the 5 on and my heel was slipping, tried on the 4.5 and they fit perfect.

Hope that helps :)

I have the long Bromonts and they are true to size for me but I take a 7. I would love some short ones if they are in the sale, could you let me know where you have seen them please. PM if you prefer

May be the taller boots have a little more room, oh I don't know. Seems a shame to miss on a bargain, what about if they don't fit you could sell them on ebay - just a thought.

Good luck :)
