Ariat paddock boots and leather gaiters

Do you think they remember you when you return from a week-long holiday?

Are these acceptable for wearing to local shows or not? I was looking at them today and was half and half..

Oh and can I wear brown?

Thoughts?

The boots and gaiters are smart enough for local shows. (I wear Ariat Devon Pro's, and English Gaiter co. gaiters)

Brown boots are becoming more popular these days, esp since Lynn Russell started wearing them.

This is something I don't understand, because 'traditionally', you wore brown boots with ratcatcher, which is essentialy showing clothing (tweed etc). However, black boots are deemed 'correct'.
As long as the boots are cleaned, shiney and match the gaiters, I don't see that it matters what colour they are as long as they are either black or brown

I likes the paddock boots

. I wear something similar (very cheap boots - Just Togs or something at £20; and not so cheap Ariat gaiters at £98). I'd like the brown ones though.

Is there anything in the affiliated rules about colours? If affiliated don't mind then can't see the RC complaining.

The friend with brown boots wore a tweed jacket for the WH, and wore the same outfit for the showjumpin classes and the dressage as well. As far as I know there were no issues.

Forgot to add: don't know about colour, but both BD and BSJA allows adults to wear johd boots with gaiters so long as same colour and the gaiters are gaiters and not chaps and are of matching leather. Nice people in the saddler's the other week dug out the rule books for me

If you are doing local shows then I think as long as you are neat and tidy it doesn't matter.

Gaiters IMO are fine - from a distance they look like long boots anyway. And I love brown

TBH I dont think i will ever be in the position where anyone will notice my boots. Having worn old muck boots and harr hall suede chaps to a HT once, i can safely sa no-one took a second look at m footwear lol

Its just the showing Im concerned with.

Hm. Don't know about pure showing as such. Friend did the WH and didn't get marked down for brown, and other friend wears gaiters and short boots (matching colour and leather).

Email the loca RC and see what they say?

Its only WH I would do - I might as well give it a crack and if it becomes a problem then I'll deal with it
*cant abide black cant abide black*

Even m'kiddettes now ask, when something has made me laugh, "Was that a Tena moment Mummy?".

And on that note, being old and on the grounds it'll take me a good ten minutes to haul m'fat ar$e up the stairs, I'm orff to bed - need all the beauty sleep I can get
