Got my new boots which were ordered online so I haven't had the chance to try different widths. They fit really well on the ankle and calf, but there is a bit of a gap at the top, coming up to my knee - I can get my hand in there. Will this get more close fitting as they drop, or should I look at getting a smaller calf size? There seems to be a fair bit of stretch in the calves of them.
Thanks in advance!

I'd get the smaller size, you want them quite snug at first, as they will give a little with wear.

Yes I would order a smaller size. I have a pair of narrows which initially were very tight but have stretched with time and use. I love my volants and want to get another pair as a spare as they are so comfy to ride in!

Thank you - I'm going to exchange for a narrower pair. At the moment I have 'full' which is 37cm calf, the next one down is 35 and the one below that 33. The tape measure says I'm just under 37cm so I presume I'm better getting the 35 - the 33 would bit a bit too small I think?

Yes - I'd go for the medium. They're fabulously comfortable boots :)

I have the narrow and they felt a bit too tight at the top at first but are the comfiest boots ever after the first 2 - 3 times of wearing them.

Help again please! I exchanged for the medium fit (second narrowest) and now they are very snug over just socks but I can do them all the way up fairly easily. There is still a little bit of a gap at the very top, just below my knee. Would it be a good idea to try the narrowest fit? Only problem being that they don't have it at the moment in regular length, only in tall. The boots are sitting right in behind my knee, so making a right angle isn't very comfortable, and the tall boots are 3cm taller. How much do they drop?
Thanks again!

Mine haven't dropped at all. One of my calfs is half an inch wider than the other and I had to ride with that zip open at the top open for a couple of times. Now it is still snug but comfortable. The other one fits perfectly. I found both zips quite difficult to get up the first time but not at all now, so probably I would wait a bit and get the narrow. Good luck.

Thank you! Have now ordered the slim in a half size smaller than usual..... fingers crossed! I will have gone through all of them by the time I find the right ones!

Mine came with heel raisers, that you wear at first until they drop a little. The drop isn't as dramatic as with conventional leather boots.

You do want them snug at first though :)

Okay, so I am still on with this - on about boot pair one million now. At present I have a 5.5 slim calf, med height. The foot is far too big, and I could get either a 5 or a 4.5. I've had the 4.5 before and they were great lengthwise but very slightly tight across my foot because of the rigid outsole that has little waves around the foot. The med height is fine now, with no drop at all. I need to swap them because of the foot size, but can't decide between a 5 with the same leg height or a 4.5 with the tall height (2cm taller so I would need them to drop at least 1cm to fit). The ones I have do up easily over jods even without any break-in period. The 4.5 slim would be 1cm narrower.
It's driving me nuts (in a small way - I know in the grander scheme of things this is trifling!!) so any further advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reading if you managed to get this far and haven't died of boredom.
