I love my ariat boots- very comfy, although I have the short ones with gaitors!

I also have the SCS3 stirrups but not the boots lol! Love the stirrups because I found I had much better grip and I lost my stirrups a lot less.

I've had mountain horse high calibres in the past and found they didn't wear as well as you would expect for a pair of boots costing that much. I've had a pair of Ariat Bromont for 2 months now and love them! They seem to support my leg well without restricting movement, didn't need any wearing in as they were comfy straight away and are very smart. I'm going to buy a second pair to keep for competitions!

I have got the MH ones and really love them, comfortable and easy to clean. I did try on the Bromonts and found them baggy around the ankle and they sat on my knee

The Bromonts are high enough cut for me - I've got long legs and do dressage so always like them to be fairly high cut. Surprised KatB found them baggy around the ankle, maybe I've just got fatter ankles

Have to say I have always loved Mountain Horse footwear, extremely comfy, & long lasting, well worth the money and great for every day use but I don't think they are elegant enough for competition, bit too chunky.

I've just bought a pair of the Ariat and they are very, very nice but I plan to "keep them for best". So for competition I would say the Ariat but for everyday wear - Mountain Horse.

My Bromonts fit me brilliantly, but then I do have fat ankles and I have the wide ones! They aren't really high cut, not like the real dressage long boots, but they are shaped

MH seem to fit better around the ankle and look more elagant but the ariats are pretty comfortable becuase the linning and half suade, where as the MH feel like your wearing, well, leather but I like the idea of the SCS...

Height isn't a problem as I'm pretty leggy.

i love the ariats, but i've given up on the zip front ones as the zips always go on mine, sometimes only after a few weeks.

the ariat half-chaps are a lovely fit and wear really well... although Miller's OH gave me a nearly-new pair of his because he hates them, too solid a feel against his calf i think. lucky me tho...
the MH boots look chunky, i wouldn't want to compete in them. i'm going to get a pair as my next yard pair though, and see how good they are.

haven't read all the replies so sorry if duplicating, but Ariats for me as I have flat feet and when I had mountain horse boots they hurt my feet due to how they are built up inside. Have ditched the mountain horse and gone back to Ariats and have no problem with feet now

I love my Ariat short boots and gaiters. So soft and comfy. Right now Im thinking about getting a long pair of the Ariat Bromonts. Ive had 1 pair of MH short boots and they were fine, but TBH the ones I had (older style) were way to clumpy for competition so I ended up using them for lessons and my Ariats have outlived them.

ariat all the way! have just recently purchased a pair of the bromonts and they are lovely and great value for money, they are so comfy.....i have a pair of very expensive sarm hippique boots for competition and i would say the bromonts are much more comfortable and just as smart looking as the sarms!!!

I've got MH High Calibres and can honestly say that to start with they did feel slightly restricted but now I've worn them about 5 times they fit like a glove and I love them!

I only saw that Ariet brought their long competition boot out last week & I too would of been in the same predicament!

I must add...Most of the MH range are big and clumpy but they've certainly come up trumps with their High Calibres as they are very sleek!
They'd make the chunkiest of legs look slender!

And on another honest note re SCS3 - I havent noticed any difference but I've never had a problem with keeping my feet in stirrups

Having had both

I highly recommend the Ariats.

Just sold the MH on Ebay as I was'nt fussed with them. The leather is'nt great for the amount they cost and they don't wear particually well.

The Ariats are gorgeous soft leather- have suede on the inside of the leg and are really nicely cut. Only thing I would say about the Ariats as they are winter boots- keep my feet snuggly and warm but I would imagine you would boil in them in the summer.

I have the MH SCS3 and love them! Really comfy and more secure with the stirrups. Quite expensive but still in tip top condition after a year

Never had ariats so can't comment on them

I have MH scs3. Love them to pieces, ( i normally really dislike MH as all there other boots are ugly but these are very sleek)
Very very comfortable, are wearing well (had mine about 6 months, worn every day around the yard and to ride) just llok nicely worn in.
Also love the stirrups, my foot position is much better in them (i used to ride with very littel foot in the stirrup) and i generally feel more secure!! When these wear out i will def buy another pair!
