This morning Ari as left me a nice cowpat in his stable. There are plenty of normal poos and then this rather 'moist' number. He produced another one on the way up to the field. He seems fine, no obvious signs of discomfort, tummy noises OK, no distention. He and FB were off wimbling round the paddock seeing what was around and we have just taken them some more hay, which they are both now eating happily and I found another soggy poo. They don't smell bad and just seem like ordinary poo but a bit too wet. It's the fact that he had produced normal poo all night and then suddenly gone squitty that disturbs me.

Two things: We changed to a new round bale of hay on Monday and there seems to be grass growing in the paddock after all the rain, which he is eating, but there isn't a great deal. Nothing else has changed, he seems to be drinking no more or less overnight.

Do you think he is just adapting to the new bale and a bit of green? I'm paranoid about him after his colic.

Agree with Scotsmare, think you may find that the change in hay has upset his digestion a bit. Give him a few days to adjust and see how he is. If he isn't back to normal soon then try something like Equigold or pink powder.

Thanks guys! I'm just so neurotic about him, I thought Arabs were supposed to be hardy beasts! I might have a problem with Pink Powder over here - by the time I find it or order it online he will probably be right as ninepence again. I might get some anyway, just to keep by, as he seems to be a bit sensitive to forage changes

I would hazard a guess it's just the change in his diet - maybe give him some pink powder if you can get it for a few days.

Or equine gold.

I knew an arab who was prone to colic.
