... I am never again taking my horse to an event where there is a big country fair and being parked inbetween the xc and the sj, it is not a good combination!

Anyway, whilst getting him ready for the dressage he could not take his eyes of the showjumping ring and he jogged all the way to the warm area (which was a long way away!) but his mind was gone and he did not want to concentrate at all. We got a score of 40.0 which I thought was quite harsh as it wasnt that bad (was expecting 37-38ish) but the whole section was being marked quite harshly, its still left us in the bottom third....

Then went to walk to xc in the rain and got very wet feet. I the thought the course was quite simple, a couple of questions but generally just big and bold.
Off to showjumping which I didnt think was that big at all but after last weekend, it was going to look small. Shrimp decided to have a paddy as I got on and throw himself around infront of everybody.

In the warm up he was a complete a*se to start off with but then calmed down.....eventually! Course was causing quite a bit of trouble as it was very spooky and bright with alot of spectators. We jumped clear but my god, Shrimp made me work hard!! He did jump very well though so I was pleased.

Went straight to XC and kept it very calm in the warmup and only jumped about 2 practise fences. We actually managed to get in the startbox this week without much comotion which took me by surprise (usually we have to go in on 2 secs on just go) He found the XC way too easy and flew everything (literally) and at times too fast

He wasnt even bothered by all the spectators at the water who were really close to the jumps

I even heard the commentator laughing at us as we took a flyer at the flower box infront of the commentary box......

My words to Shrimp were something like 'you are going to end up killing me if you carry on like this.... ' He's staying at Novice now so he has something to back off at and test him, he's just too bloomin cocky!

We stayed on our dressage score and ended up about 13th/14th and the scores were really close at the lower end. 10th was 39.7, 11th&12th was 39.9 and then me and someone else on 40.0. How do I always end up in sections that are really close?! Obviously we didnt qualify for the finals but im not too bothered as my aim is to get to Weston in October so we just need to improve our dressage! (slightly annoying now FEI ponies can do the JRN's aswell but dont get me started....... )
Thankyou for reading (god, I cant half waffle) so virtual chocs coming your way --------->

Mmmm, thanks for the chocs - sounds like you had to ride to get that double clear - well done, and clever pony

well done, so annoying these PNRF's if you don't have a fabby dressage score you're not in there but like you say, onwards upwards and fingers crossed for the JRN's....Will you aim to qualify for a CCI* anyway?

Thanks everyone!

I would like to though getting through via the JRN's is probably our only way this year but if we dont, I think we could easily do intermediate next year if we pick the right one as he went round Somerford Novice with ease. Im just not a natural dressage rider and hes so bloomin' lazy when it comes to flatwork! We both much prefer thowing ourselves over big scary fences....

Well done, brill result, fingers crossed for weston champs!

What about the Junior novice 2 day at Aldon if you dont make it too weston this year- that way you'll get your 1* qual without having to go int.

Thanks!
I did think about Aldon but it is miles away (at least a 5/6 hour drive) but I may have to persuade mother! I wish there was one a bit more up north...
