Armada to go to OT.

Hmm. I would have thought he'd do better with Andrew but there you go. OT hasn't completed Badminton since he won in 09, perhaps an irrelevant piece of info though. Generally quite surprised about that though (both the decision and the reason for), I can't say OT has proved himself at 4* over the past couple of years. No offence meant but his recent record definitely isn't great.

Do you have an article link or something?

Kinell, I am surprised. In his speech to the USEA (last year iirc) OT said he and AN were good friends though, and that AN has helped him a lot.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Armada, he's right up there on my (very short!) list of Phenomenal Horses.
It will be very interesting to see how he goes... Armada looks very tricky, very arrogant xc, he really has his moments...!

I was going to say I thought OT had said they were very good friends... Clearly they are if he's being given the ride on one of his horses without hard feelings (?).

I'm looking forward to seeing how they get on :)

Just seen this on H&H. Shame for Andrew, although he has many other 4* rides, and I imagine he wouldn't have ridden him at badders. Good for Oli who seems to be really lacking 4* rides at the moment, however I'm not sure they will suit each other.

Probably, Pippa Funnell hasn't completed since she last won it back in 2005.

Good point.

Nevertheless they will definitely be an interesting pair to watch this season, hopefully Oliver will have more luck on his side this year than the last couple of years, he deserves a good season.

There is nothing complex to the story at all. Andrew has 6 horses to run at 4* without Armada so it makes sense. 4* is barely big enough for him so smaller competitions don't command his respect or play to his strengths (any horse that treats Burghley like an intro has to have immense ability!!). It is no secret that he is not a straightforward ride and there is a limited amount of riders skilled enough, strong enough and brave enough to take him on. It was Andrew's idea as Ollie is short of top level horses. They are good friends and Andrew thinks Ollie can do it but if it doesn't work he will have him back.

I was the first person to handle Armada (Moises) when he arrived at Andrew's as a huge gangly youngster and so have a huge soft spot for him. I am a bit gutted as Andrew and he were/are amazing xc but I'm sure Andrew didn't make the decision lightly.
Its about time Andrew had a big win, & unfortunately you prob wouldn't put a bet on Armada being in the top after dr.
