Well, my trainer had me doing something a little different (for me anyways) last night....Up, Up, Down trot
crazy.gif
Anyone else tried this ? Basically, you rise for two strides instead of one, then sit. Rise for two strides, then sit....and so on. I regularly rise for two to change the diagonal, but this was a whole new world of pain

It's intended to help your balance...but i found it absolutely killed my lower back (i have an old injury there from being kicked
frown.gif
). It was bloomin' difficult to do as well...i kept getting thrown backwards lol!

That must be an 'eventing' exercise K.... not one I've heard of though! Your new trainer sounds fun

Oh we're havin' a ball alright

The difference in Bo is amazing in just 3 weeks ! He's got his confidence back.....in abundance ! Last night he decided that he knew best through a dogleg....this the horse that hated going on a long one a few weeks back......went 3 strides instead of 4....just because he could

There's a lot of emphasis on the flat work which is good for us, and there's nothing radical about any of it...just minor tweaks to what we're already doing

LOL!

That's the difference between an eventer training you and a SJ'er. Anyone spot the irony in this one

Hey Rambo - you on the 'turn'???? LOL!

sadistic trainer but has a point i guess - get one of those lower back band things - i have one as i have a really bad back and it's very useful when i'm going through a painful stage.

at least you are seeing very positive changes in Bo - all good!

Hi there my instructor used to make us do this, once you get the hang of it, it gets easier, all though i do find it harder on my new horse as his paces are alot bouncier and bigger

Oh dear

Not sure my brain will be able to cope with that

That's fantastic news. Isn't it interesting that both horses and riders can have all the ability in the world but a knock to the confidence has a huge impact. She sounds like she has really got you guys sussed and is unlocking your potential - you have an exciting year ahead of you

Irony? What Irony? I dont 'do' eventing

......unless someone throws a horse my way

my trainer used to make me do that as well to prove I was balanced in trot. I find it easy now and often change the diagonal like that when warming my horse up to stay off his back ...

Is your trainer Polish
grin.gif
??? Most kids in Poland, if training to compete, would have gone through that
tongue.gif
I am using it when teaching and some people like it, some don't. shame about your back pain as this exercise really does help the balance immensly!

PMSL!

Noooo....Why
crazy.gif

The back pain was caused by me not relaxing and using muscles, rather than balance, to stay upright. It got better as i got used to the exercise

PMSL, would that be Geoff L by any chance?

Rambo: we get made to do this in college lessons but it progresses from up, up, down to up, up up, down (that's tough at first
crazy.gif
) and various other up, down mixes
