Look, all I wanna do is buy some clippers - mainly to shear off the leg hairs off my otherwise normal horse.

Usually I borrow a fab set of Heinegers for a fee. I have been looking on ebay for ages. And bidding but over £100!!!!!!

Not being funny but, I'm not loaded. Don't want to spend £300 on a pair I'm gonna use 3-4 time a year. (need me sherry supply girls - much more important than legshave for the nag) so, what I'm after is some direction on these new breeds eg. masterclip and whatnot.... reasonable for £85 but quality?
 
Well tallyho, if you just need them for leg hair on a normal horse, I'd suggest a Liveryman Element trimmer. They are very good for 'normal' horses, but they wouldn't cope with a hairy cob's feather. They're well under £100 so plenty left in the coffers for your sherry! ;)
 
I've wondered about those full size clippers at under £100 - would love to know if anybody has a set and what they think. Agree that if you only have 'normal' hair a decent pair of trimmers should suffice.
 
I've borrowed my friends Dextella clippers this winter (she's a star) and they've whipped through my fairly hairy cobs hairy coat a treat. Not the quietist but doesn't bother mine, well under £100 I think! (and she's had them a number of years and they're still running fine............)
 
Thanks guys. I'll look into dextella and the element trimmer... he's not super hairy but not fine either - somewhere in mid-hair. He just looks better without and I can keep bugs at bay..

Never guess what I found on him yesterday near his sheath... a TICK!!!!! Never ever seen one on a horse in all my life! It was disgusting and the whole area swelled up like a tennis ball.
 
I have a set of Wahl trimmers - around £60 they come with comb attachments so that you can clip close or longer. I've found them brillient - I have a Clydie cross that grows feathers and the tidy her up well.
