OK - really need to vent on this one. WHY WHY do people always add at LEAST a hand to the height of their horses???? ESPECIALLY ANNOYING when you are going to try them!!! Also have seen Numerous posts on here going Ooooh hes's big when HE so blatantly ISN'T!!!

Here's a little height quiz for anyone who's interested, the following two horses belong to my daughter and I and she is the jockey on both pics, she is 5'10. The horses in question have been both accurately measured so .....how big do you think the following are;-

I think it's impossible to tell from a picture, the grey looks chunkier so will take up your leg more therefore may well be smaller in height than the bay that looks finer (btw the bay is lush!), you or your daughter are taller than me and I ride a 15.2 (although it is looking like her son is going to be a fair bit bigger than that, so not for long!) so I'd say both are bigger than that! So my guess is 16hh for the grey and 16.2 the bay??? Probably totally wrong, but then I never would try to put an educated height guess on a horse from a pic, I use a height stick on them in the flesh, and I know where 15.2 comes up to on me, so can tell if somethings bigger or smaller when I'm stood by one!!!!!!!!!

when it comes to pictures of horses its very deceptive as some horses are more barrelled than others and can take up leg, some horses are lean in barrel and drop off the leg more, but in the name of fun, my guess is 16'2/16'3>> and 15 1

I like this thread!

I'm 5' 10 1/2 on a good day but not as svelte as your daughter but her leg seems to land on the bay where mine does on my 17.1 big eejit... although I've not got a piccie of me from the side so mine could be much further down.

The grey has her more fixed in her hip flexors and ready for action as it were so I am guessing a fuller figured less predictable 15.3 ish?

Basically nae idea but great homework assignment!

(she's not looking for a 17.1 big eejit is she?????)
:D

Yea know what you mean! 15.3hh and 15.2hh?!

When I sold a horse who was 17.1hh I emailed pics to buyers before they came with me and my ex riding him and standing by him. About 2/3 of people who came to view him said 'Oh he's big...' Err no you muppet, he's 17.1 as stated!!!

Not even as he was chunky he was a tb x !!!
