Arghhh what to do? I bought my horses home yesterday afternoon, as it was getting late I put them straight into their new stable. Get up this morning and its snowed overnight <sigh>. Its not a huge amount but enough to make it very slippy underfoot. So do I try and get them out, (leading to prancing horses across an icey yard doesn't fill me with glee either) where no doubt they are going to charge about like loons but at least I am at home all day and can keep an eye on them, or do I leave them in and turn them out when the snow has gone, bearing in mind I will be at work all week so can't keep my beady eye on them.
Blinkin snow has scuppered all my plans for today.

i turn mine out everyday regardless of the weather ...
basically they have no choice as im not there to keep an eye on them in the stable ...blue would be happy to stay there but the young one i think she would pull them down ..

[/ QUOTE ] I would feed them hay in the field and not feed them before you turn out, just give them a mouthfull of hay as you get them out, hopefully it will take their minds off hurtling round..

As long as you can safely walk them from the yard to their field then turn them out. If it is sheet ice either put salt or grit down first to melt it, or leave them in.

Well they are out. Thankfully its powdery snow and it hadn't frozen underneath so was able to clear a path across the yard. Youngster was a dream to turn out, the older and wiser one was more of a handful! No looning, both trotted about for a minute and that was that! I needn't of worried! Thanks everyone.
