Well Patsy arrived at Rockley on Sunday evening – the journey wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, considering the distance we were travelling. And she travelled so well!
She settled in straight away and looks so happy already!! Although I’ll miss her loads, I have no qualms about how well she’ll be looked after there.
Just want to thank everyone who has given me advice and pointing me in the right direction!! I have a good feeling about this! Please keep your fingers crossed for her! :D
 
Well with any luck your last day at Rockley will be to go out hunting with her - plenty of other "written off" horses have left Rockley after a day's hunting!!

Yes, mine did. And has been several times since. He also does at least 2 hours hacking daily and has started schooling and will be jumping again in the spring. Oh yes, he was written off by loads of professionals and even more said that he would NEVER go barefoot.............what rubbish. Was even told to pts...a very happy ending for me and fingers crossed for you too.x

cptrayes - we've both never hunted, but something I've always wanted to do! She's always been 'too naughty'... but now I am starting to realise that a lot of behavioural issues are probably linked to her feet :( - would be an absolute dream if we could go :)
Lainey - Hope I do have the success that you have had with your boy! Especially would love to jump again!

p.s. she's on the blog with her new best friend/ boyfriend today :)

I think sore feet being a factor in some behavioural issues is so often overlooked.
Best wishes for a successful rehab and start of your new life together. :)
 
Good luck, and hope to see you there! Oscar will be joining your girl on the 17th. Hopefully we will get to ride out together on our newly sound horses :D

I'm travelling from west sussex, it feels like a long old journey, which I'm dreading to be honest, but I know it'll be worth it! Can't wait to get him there now as having way too many wobbles about it all. Hope to meet you soon :)
 
She is a gorgeous girlie :)

You wont regret sending her down there, without a doubt the best decision I ever made. Soli and I went on our first hack today since he's been home and he was fab :D

Im going down to see Ginger on the 12th Feb so will get too see all the other Rehab horses there too. I will take lots of pictures! Im travelling down from Cumbria so this is my first trip to Rockley as its very far but worth it!

Wow i thought i had far to travel! Yeh car sharing would be a good idea, save lots of fuel! You should PM me your email address and ill send you some pics once i have been down x

My horse went at the weekend (Lucy), she has also come up from Sussex! How is yours getting on? I have my fingers crossed that she will come good. Everything I read is so positive. Unfortunately I was not able to take her myself, so its been a bit scary but thankfully there are so many people saying great things about it and Nic was lovely to speak to - I am pretty confident she will be enjoying herself. I am due a visit on the 18th of this month. I cant wait to see her bare feet. Hope everyones horses are doing well. xx
 
Awwww bless, just seen the pics of Lucy, don't worry she will be fine. My boy Bailey W is doing brilliantly and hunts, dressages and hacks everywhere he will be jumping again in the spring too. Good luck and we will be watching.xxxxxxxxxxx

Hey.. just noticed this post was brought back up.
I was there at the weekend when Lucy arrived - she was absolutely fine and settled straight away. She is stunning! :)
She was put in the stable next door to Patsy (my horse) and they seemed to get on well.
Nic is great, and I felt so relaxed leaving Pats there.
Fingers crossed she comes sound for you! xx
 
Thanks for getting back to me guys.... It makes me feel much better. It was quite hard packing her bag and sending her off to the unknown, I am not visiting for another week! Nic has already informed me that Lucy is besotted with Patsy, so I am pleased she has a friend. Patsy does look gorgeous, she is a lovely colour ;-). Is Bailey the lovely looking ID? Fingers crossed for Lucy. How are yours getting on, have they improved much and was it a shock seeing them without shoes?? x

It is hard - but you know it's the best decision, and it's all worth it when you start to see the improvements!
I had a feeling Lucy and Patsy would get on :)
Patsy has been there 6 weeks now and the amount of hoof growth and difference in the angle is amazing! She's obviously finding it all a bit strange, especially due to her conformation on the left fore, but we put her on a circle and she has improved so much! Nic and I decided that she would prob benefit from a physio/body worker to see if it can help her a bit. Just amazes me what can be achieved in such a short space of time :)
I took her out of shoes about a month before she went - her feet looked a lot better than in those graduated bar shoes :-S
Yes.. I do love a grey - just wish she was the same colour as Lucy still! So much easier to keep clean :)
Might see you there one time... I'm aiming to go back down the beginning of April xxxx
 
The other new horse, the chestnut Zan belongs to a friend of mine. We used to be at the same yard in London before I moved Frankie out to Herts and she moved to another yard.
He's such a sweet horse and when Frankie was lame and on box rest she sometimes brought Zan to talk to him over the stable door.

I was terrible and there every 5 minutes, spent a fortune in train fares. I missed him so much.
