My lovely Toller has started digging, lots. Now this wouldn't be a problem, except he's digging to get out of the garden.
He has a dog door so that he can get in and out as he pleases, and before the digging started this was fine. However, it now stays locked and he has to be 'babysat' if going outside, or put on the lead.
Now the only reasons why I can see this has started is because:
1. We lost a dog in March who was his companion.
2. A family moved in next door in May, and they have a dog.
The couple of times he's dug out, he's managed to play with this dog, so in effect a big reward for getting out.
I'm worried that he'll get out onto the road, or end up getting lost. I also don't want to be a nuisance to my neighbors and I'd like him to be able to be left with the door door open as much as possible.
Any ideas?
I want to get another dog, but OH says that with a baby on the way (Due December) we'd be nuts to get one. I, on the other hand think that he needs company and as I'm not really working at the minute it would be an ideal time to get a friend for him and make sure they settle together.
I've arranged a 'play date' with another dog tomorrow so they can both burn off some energy in my back garden for a couple of hours. (holes are all filled in and blocked off)
