Just spent about 250 quid fully matting my stable and putting down 12 bags of megazorb, after reading loads of reviews and deciding it sounded like the best option. Well now the high maintenance neddy is coughing on it! And its compacting in his feet after all (newly barefoot and looking for something that doesn't do this). I really really cannot afford to chuck 100 quid worth of bedding on the muck heap, especially after his latest vets bill.

Would it work if I levelled it out and put Aubiose on top of it? Is that likely to "contain" the dust? Or maybe even wood pellets. So frustrated as was going to get wood pellets again but changed my mind based on the rave reviews of the megazorb!

Aubiose can be dampened down a bit (I dont do it personally but seem to remember seeing it on the wrapper or website) so it may be an option to do that very slightly and mix with the megazorb to see if that tones down the dust a bit

May not work of course...

Oh cool might try that. Such a pain, I ditched an entire deep little lovely shavings bed because it seemed to make him uncomfortable (despite a deep shavings bed supposedly being good for sore feeties) and now this! Typical eh. Feet now fine but lungs probably about to fall out!

I'm using Aubiose and finding it brilliant. I looked at Megazorb and talked to them at YHL where they definitely suggested dampening it if it got at all dusty. Chose Aubiose due to cost. :)

I love Aubiouse!! My COPD guy is on it. I put it over an existing pellet bed and gradually just put more Aubiouse in as the pellets came out. He is now fully on Aubiouse and the snot & cough has gone :-)

I use megazorb in half of the stables along with rubber matting. However, I would never use 12 sacks as it is so light that it would fly around. I use 3 sacks to set up the bed and this keeps it pretty dust free. Personally I would remove most of the bed and store it somewhere for later use.

I thought it was meant to compact down like wood pellets?

Not the way I use it. Yes, it will compact down eventually, but it is extremely difficult to get back up once it has. It forms like a solid thick cardboard. Far better to take everything out each day IME. I would never use it for deep littering.
