As its getting colder ebs is getting stiffer just wondering if there was any supplements people would recommed? please not mega money, working on them magnetic boots but my parents have to pay and liverys gone up ect
shes got cortaflex and NAF cod liver oil, anything else worth trying?

ps. i think i fixed the fast fiber problem it was far too wet (:

If you are already on cortaflex and it doesn't work then you would need to get something stronger, I use Cosequin, initially it is expensive to 'load' and it is £100 a tub, but a tub lasts ages when the loading has finished. Alternatively, I have actually come off this and am now using a product called Superfix http://www.superfix.net/sportmax.html you would need to call them and see what the best would be for your mare. They are really helpful, I am about to start my second tub and it has already matched the cosequin (I no longer use it) and it works even better the more work you do with them. Many of the racehorses are on it and it has a lot of veterinary backing.

I can highly recommend Equistro Flexadin, it is a joint supplement combined with Devil's Claw, which is herbal substance with similar action to bute - mild analgesic and anti-inflammatory.

thanks:p

If you want to add oil to her diet then I would add microionized linseed. High in oil, good for their coats and joints (among other things) - good for joints as it has great levels of omega 3 and 6. I get mine here as I don't add much (good doers!) but if you are after feeding more, particularly if ebs is not such a good doer then charnwood milling do big sacks at a v competative prices. http://www.naturalhorsesupplies.co.uk/p/category/0802206363-Mobility/

Apple Cider Vinegar is also known for helping stiffness, although some may question it but I've used it both on my own older equines with good results and you'll find that many on here will also agree with the benefits, it's cheap as chips and it also increases the appeite.
You could also add honey and half a cup of lemon juice (one squeezed lemon) a day in with the cider vinegar, again helps athritis.

Stable wraps will help keep her legs warm on a night if she's stabled, this will help with the stiffness also.
