Hi, I have a 13yo mare that I bought unseen and she passed her 5 stage vetting with no comments. She arrived with a scar on her left fetlock and upon investigation after a month of having her it was causing her to be slightly uncomfortable, I went ahead with steroid injections (she’s had this done 3 times - lasting about 6 months), few days ago I went ahead with arthramid. Just want to know will any of this cause infertility issues if I was to try her this summer for a foal??

Thank you ☺️

I'm confused why you think joint injections in a fetlock might compromise her fertility?

Is your vet certain that the joint problems have arisen because of a physical and accidental injury which left the scar?

If not, please don't breed from her.

.
I had been told that steroid injections may cause problems with fertility but i’m unsure on arthramid.

Yes my vet is sure that the scar is from an injury prior to me buying her.

Arthimid is injected into the joint capsule of a joint that’s damaged it helps the joint to move more smoothly.
An external scar won’t get benefit from a product designed to help the internal structures of the joint capsules.
I have heard of no issues of the use of these type of products and fertility.
