Vet nerve blocked and diagnosed coffin joint inflammation - after competition on hard ground. Had arthramid injection in the joint and followed vets instructions to the letter- 4 days box rest then half a days turnout in small pen, building it up to longer turnout over a few weeks. The bad news is our turnout is rock hard. Five weeks later, pony has very slightly improved but is still lame. Stupid question - has the turnout messed up the effectiveness of the injection? I haven't let him get fat - field is bald and he's never had lami. We have 24/7 turnout but because of the heat and he's a bit of self harmer, he's been coming in overnight or during the day. The only alternative is indefinite box rest which is not great for obvious reasons. I'm going to speak to the vet again tomorrow.
Has anyone else has this experience, very worried.
