Hello, I was wondering what everyone did post arthramid in hocks for box rest then turn out.

The vet who did my original xrays said in for 24 hours then the vet who injected him said to keep him in till Tuesday as per medication instructions (injected Friday morning) and arthramid website said 48 hours.

My horse is getting very stressy in the stable and box walking. I'm wondering if I can just turn him out on Monday. Don't want to call my vets at a weekend for such a silly question 🤣🤣

We’ve done 2 days box rest, then turnout for 5 days in the field then gently start ridden work. We’ve had it done twice and that was the general plan both times. The box rest is essentially to prevent infection at the injection site. This time the vet also gave Bute for 5 days post injections but last time we didn’t x

My Vet said overnight after Steroids but 48 hours for Arthramid to maximize the effects.
If yours is stressy in his stable I'd be tempted to just do the 48 hours

We did 48hrs in, vet said that was to allow the solution to settle in the joint.
Then small paddock turnout for a few days. 1 week off work & then slowly build up, he wasn't 'lame' before injections

First time round vet said box rest for 72 hours but I gave up after 48 hours as horse is a stress head. Injections were very successful and we’ve just been back for a performance work up 14 months later and he’s still fully sound on that stifle.

We’ve just done the other stifle and this time round he was only box rested for the day of his injection and turned out that evening, it’s not ideal but he was literally rodeoing around his stable and I decided that was more harmful than pottering around the field. Time will tell if its affected how effective it will be.

I field rest for a week, hack for 2 weeks then slowly return to work over 6 weeks. But horse has never been ‘lame’ only under flexion during a performance work up.

We did 2 days box rest and were told he could go out for a week with no work, if he'd be quiet and unfortunately although he usually just potters around, he didn't and so he came back in for a week.

I was also told that it was to allow for the solution to settle in the joint so I'd be inclined to do whatever will keep your horse quietest and give the arthramid the best chance.

24 hours in stable, 7 days turnout then ride away as usual when I had hocks and stifles done (they were done separately, but same post injection protocols).
