Arthrimid - frequency of injections?

My boy was diagnosed with hock arthritis back in 2024, he had arthrimid in May 2024 and then a top up in Spring last year. It has been great, noticeable improvement, but he has now started to slow up going down hill again (this was the first indicator something was wrong before he was diagnosed).

How often has everyone else had to do the injections?

I will be speaking to the vet, but useful to know what others have had to do.
 
The first time my ID mare had a good 2.5 years, the second was not so successful but by then she had other issues coming to the fore, she was a big horse, and retired (although I did a lot in hand with her)
 
13 months! Just redid it last week after having it done Feb 2025. Not as long as we’d hoped but we did work her hard and with hindsight I’d not jump her on harder ground ever again as I’m sure that didn’t help this summer 🤦🏻‍♀️
 
My horse has them annually, he has some changes in the big hock joint (tcj) so as it is a very mobile joint I get it done once a year (luckily for my wallet it is only one leg that needs it!).
 
Thanks everyone, I was hoping it wouldn't be an annual event but it looks like it might be. Luckily the first 2 were covered by insurance, unfortunately arthritis is now not covered. He is worked, but not overly hard, we don't jump but do hack and school.
 
Over time certain hock joints will fuse so the pain eventually will be less, so they say. But yes probably yearly in my experience. Gutted our insurance now excludes arthritis so I've had to pay for the second round myself, shame she didn't show signs at 11 months on when I had the ongoing claim!

I managed to get the second injections on the insurance, he wasn't showing any signs but he had to have his stifles done (very minor arthritis but wanted to get them medicated in the insurance period!) so the hocks were topped up. Having a look back through my previous invoices, I think it will be in the region of £2k to redo them. Got to love our horses!

I just paid about £1000 for the 2 hocks but that was without any repeat X-rays etc 😵‍💫
