Hi,

My pony has just been diagnosed with Arthritis in both hind legs. He is to be ridden at least 3 times a week to stop him seizing up and be given glucosamine hydrochloride supplement In his feed.
I was just wondering is there anything else/ any supplements anyone has ever used that helped their arthritic horses? :)
thankyou

Yes, loads of things. Do a search on here and you will find tons of stuff.
- turn out - ideally living out
- magnetic boots
- chaps in winter
- stretching exercises
- feed turmeric
- as much appropriate exercise as possible, talk to your vet
- remove shoes to reduce concussion to joints
- feed msm and chondritrin
- some people like green lipped mussels
- stable mats (eva are good)
- massage pads (lumber back can get very tight as a result)
- tildren and hock injections, adequan
- bute as necessary
- lateral work, in hand warm ups
- don't clip legs in winter

There is probably more stuff that I have forgotten, but like I have said, do a search and you will find it. There are loads of really good threads on this :)

Hi, not sure if yours is spavins but I am currently using Equimins Joint Ease for spavins and hacking out in walk as often as I can.

Thank you! He lives out 24/7 anyway so I'm glad that may be beneficial to him! and he hasn't been clipped at all this year :)
We are buying some Bute along side the supplements so if we ever do longer rides he wont be painful/stiff the next day! x
And we have also decided that, even thought the vet didn't mention this, we are going to warm him up in walk for longer just so he can stretch out a little!
I will do some extra research though :)
