When the tempreture drops like it did today my left knee really aches and hurts when i walk  and continues to do so untill am inside. I work on a livery yard and constantly turning out/mucking out basically outside for 5 hrs per day from early on in the mornings. Usually i can bare it but this morning it was really painful when i was walking.
I was wearing my thermals plus thick winter jods and normal socks/wellies etc so it didnt feel overly cold.
Am 30yrs old so not ancient (i hope :p) i have never had problems with it up untill last winter, now its getting worse!! any ideas what it could be and more importantly how i can stop it hurting?
Thanks :)

Magnetic knee support and 5 - 10 minutes of physio stretches when you get up in the morning! If you don't actually have a diagnosis then get yourself to your GP or a sports injury specialist, don't mess about with painfull knees!

Both knees here:(Very annoying in winter. Also my wrists, ankles and hips. I am told it will get worse as I get older - I will need a bungalow by the time I am fifty, at the most:eek:
You should see your GP ASAP - mine took hold when I was 26!

I'm glad you asked this, as I was going to! I'll be interested to see what others have to say, and I feel your pain!

about 5 years ago, I fell off a mini motor scooter and landed funny on my knee. Didn't think much of it, there was a bit of a cut, maybe mum should have taken me in for stitches, but nothing serious. It was stiff and hurt for ages after so I had some physio which made a little difference, and most of the swelling went down, but now it takes effort to fully extend it, and I don't generally when I walk, unless I think about it, there's a dull ache there almost all of the time, worse when it's cold and it is especially bad now that I'm not riding! It worries me a bit as I am only 16 but I guess there's not much I can do :(

Feel your pain.
I'm the same age as you and I thought I had arthritis in my knee as since the start of winter its been really painful, haven't ridden since end of oct, spent a couple of weeks not being able to walk. Turns out its problems with the cartilige inbetween the thigh and calf bone (under knee cap). Having pysio but not much help as yet
I wanna ride :(
I'd go to the docs if I where you. It could be so many things, different things require different treatment.
Hope it eases off

I've got a knee problem too (two motorbike crashes) its painful up and down stairs etc. What's helped mine is an exercise bike and cycling. The exercise bike is set to very low load. The knee is rotating through a bigger radius than walking. Joints aren't lubricated through blood flow, but by work and movement stimulating the lubricant. Also the cycling is strengthening the surrounding tissue and giving better support.

I think I'd get a diagnosis if I were you, just to be be sure what you're dealing with.
