Any one got any sensible remedies to ease my collies arthritis. He is getting quite crippled now i have had him a long time although he is still keen to go. It is sad to see him trying his little heart out but is obviously in some pain until he gets wamed up.

METACAM........right of the top shelf LOL

Yes my dog is the same - we went through so many things and the best thing ever is Joint Aid for Dogs, she has been on this for 2 months and the change in her is fab!

It maintains flexibility of movement for working and pet dogs.

Aids the normal anti-inflammatory actions of the dogs metabolism

Supports the normal wear, tear and repair of cartilage and synovial fluid.

I can recommend this stuff enough, without this my dog would be on tablets from the vet and not getting her long walks.

It costs £19.95 a bag and lasts just over a month, however my dog needs 2 scoops as she is a rotti, so if you have a smaller dog it may last a little longer.
At the end of the day what is £20 to see your doggie happy!

Its very easy to administer too.

Give it a go and you will see the difference within days.

They also do a Money back guarantee, you should see a difference in your dog with your first 500gm tub or you get your money back.

If you call 08700 600 670 you may be able to order it, my local pet place does it but not all places will have it.

Good luck with it and let me know how it goes x

Cartrophen very good but best results around 6-8 weeks later
Acupuncture good and best results vary but ours was around 2-3 week treatment
synoquin brilliant but expensive and best results around 4+ months then constant if maintained.
If the dog is really suffering something like Metacam or rimadyl until the rest can kick in.
A regular good exercise plan and keeping weight down also helps.
Cut the stairs out if your dog uses them and you can and a really deep soft bed!
Best of luck.

To be honest i havent read all the replies but from experience i would say to use metacam (see your vet), its real good for pain relief, and stiffness etc, you can get it cheaper off the internet but you need a prescription of the vet (about £6), also synoquin.

my husky of 11 yrs has bad arthritis , shes had 4 injections over 4 weeks of cartrophen , now trying previcox pills , shes not responded to rimadyl & other meds , metacam didn't seem to help much either so we are trying the other 2 above meds. very stiff & refuses her walks , not eating much either.

Yes it is cheaper. I paid £19 for 32ml from the vet but paid £23 for 100ml online.

The prescription from the vet was free - I don't think they are allowed to charge for it

Have you looked at magnetic collars?

My friend's boxer has very bad hips and she got her a magnetic collar and it has worked wonders. She had to wear it for a short time each day at first, building up the time.
