Arthritis?

I have posted this on another forum as well as I am worried about my mare & hoping someone can help us.
I went to feed my horses this morning & one of them was laying in the snow. I knew there was a problem straight away. The other horses were standing a round her. I managed to get her up but her back legs was not right. I got a stable for her & walked her up to it. She had a problem walking up there. I called the vet straight away & it didn't take her to long to get to us. The vet is in Derby & I'm in Nottingham. She had a good look at her & she doesn't think it is laminitis as she couldn't feel any pulse. She said that she should be fine. I asked her if it could be arthritis & she said it could be.
The vet gave me EQUIPALZONE 1G (Bute) & to give twice a day for the first 2 day & then after that 1 a day. She as 10 days worth of it. I am worried seeing how hard it was for her to walk & with her laying in snow the way she was. The lady in the next field said that she seen her laying in the snow a few hours before that. The vet said she couldn't find anything wrong as she lifted her hoofs & moved all her legs & couldn't find anything wrong!
I am so worried as it is not normal for her. She is 16 years old & I have never seen her like this in the 6 years I have had her. She is young to be arthritic. The vet did said that she might of slipped in the snow & that is the reason, but I had the vet out 2 weeks ago to give them their tenanus injections & I asked the vet to look her over as she was very slow at walking & not herself. She said just to keep an eye on her as she couldn't find anything wrong!
Any help please.
 
At 16 she is not too young for arthritis. Especially if she a heavy breed.

See how she is after the bute, she may have slipped, struggled to get up. got cold and been pretty unable to move.

She isn't too young for arthiritis. My 14yo has it as does his 9yo field mate.

I would wait to see how she gets on with the bute. The vet is right, she could have jsut slipped. Be patient and see how she goes over the next few days otherwise you can worry yourself silly by contemplating all of the things that *might* be wrong. If it is arthiritis, it isn't a death sentence and can be managed.
 
My 15 year old horse is now retired due to arthritus so no she isnt to young

MY 13 year old has arthritis and if you catch it early and manage it correctly they can still be ridden for a number of years - this obviously depends on how quick the growth is and how lame they are

It sounds very sudden for arthritis perhaps she did just slip
 
Thank you all so very much for replying. I have been up to her this morning & she was at the stable book looking all around lol. She seems a lot better today but that could be with the bute & out of the cold. She is a cob & is quite big. The vet said she looks in very good condition & her coat is very good.
I feel a lot better today seeing her so alert. Thank you all again
