Anyone had any experience with arthritis in hind end?!
Did you use injections ?!
How do you mange stiffness?!
My boy has become a little stiff behind these last few weeks,I thought it was from doing a bit much out hacking but it seems to still b here a 3 weeks on.
He has had hind end problems before but for the last two years has been perfect, vets did confirm 2years ago he had arthritis but didn't seem to bother him but could one day.
With the stiffness he's also doing this strange hobble thing when he's been resting, like he can't put weight on the other leg then after a few seconds he's fine.
I must add he use to do this hobble thing 2 years ago but it just stopped n hasent been around since.
He's 17 yr old tb x had quite a hard life,I use him for general riding, showing, dressage n he's fine with all this only thing I can think is different this last few months he's not been rode as much.
Any ideas greatfull :-)

The hobble thing could be a locking patella, my mare has this at the moment. When she goes to move off from standing its like she can't use her leg and shuffles the first few steps then it seems to wear off and after a good few steps she is much better.

Yea he use to do the hobble thing two years ago then it just stopped guess he got stronger, what's the out come/plan with your made?!
Its so dishearting he's been amazing for so long,we have a tough first year the year I got him enough to last a life time, although he's nowhere as bad its still a worry n a wounder what could have triggered it or if the arthritis has got worse .

With my mare and her locking patella we tried resting her which made no difference, pain killers which made no difference now we have started giving her 10 to 15 mins lunging in walk a day to try and start building a bit of muscle which should hold the joint tighter together. We have only been doing this a couple of weeks and certainly so far she isn't any worse so we are to continue for a month. If after that there is little change we might try a steroid injection into the stifle joint.

Vet has been today she thinks its either the stifle locking or his tendons around his hock moving, anyone know anything about either?!
He's going for xray on Friday.
She didn't seem to worried n the whole time she was there he didn't do his hobble thing .
