As from this weekend just gone

I wear mine for hacking, jumping and if I feel a bit unsafe when schooling. I have no hesitation in reaching for it and no embaressment in wearing it.

I have my horse at uni with me, and other people make fun of me for it, especially as I'm a dressage rider as opposed to a jumper but I really don't care! They all swallow their words when I tell them I had an accident 3 years ago (at 15 years old) where I was told if I wasn't wearing my BP I'd have broken my back. That day I had second thoughts about wearing it as I thought it looked "uncool". I thank my lucky stars to this day that I did ..

I don't understand the stigma with BP's. I don't think they look stupid or uncool or anything of the type. Quite frankly, I'd far rather wear one and be safe(r), than sat in a wheelchair in regret ...

Since buying my project mare 20 months ago I've become a BP convert!

I have a racesafe R2000 now (bought to replace my childs size ancient racesafe) and as of last week also bought the shoulder pads which I am wearing for hacking to try and protect my collar bone I broke a few years ago.

2 weeks ago she span and legged it down the road and I came out the side door onto the concrete onto the side of my back. I wasn't even winded and just ended up a bit stiff with a bruised bottom. I have worn my BP in all temperatures and once it is on I forget I am wearing it.

My OH says I look like robocop (its black)! But he also wants me to put it on at home with nothing underneath so it can't look that bad lol!
