Gave Blue a haircut (all off) at the weekend and put him back out 24/7 in a MW TO

It feels quite cold at night to me

but actually the thermometer is reading about 7*C in the evenings and about 4-7*C in the mornings (7.30am) so i don't feel like i should put his HW on just yet?

Drags is Trace Clipped, his out in 220g fill amigo with a no fill neck during the day and I brough him in last night for the first time this winter. up until last night he was out at night in the same but the neck was taken off during the day where poss. it's about 8 at the mo during the day here and dropping to about 4

...if that helps!

During the day mine are out with their LW turnouts on (no filling) - the boy has a neck cover on his as I dont want him getting too fluffy (he is being clipped in 2 weeks)

At night they are stabled with LW quilts on

The only one who is allowed to stay naked at the moment is the shetland

One of 'em fully clipped out now in for the winter and is in one fleece during the day and two at night. Goes out for a couple of hours in MW TO.

Other is out in field in quite a medium/ heavy TO, unclipped at the moment.

Not clipped cos she's pregnant so nothing. All naked. except if it's hammering with rain she'll have a very light weight turnout.

A light weight rain sheet to keep the worst off as he is quite a wimp and gets very grumpy in the winter if not warm enough...also he is in sick bay at the moment so need to keep him sweet temperament wise!

Todays only about the second time mine's had a lw rain sheet on since spring, but he has had a lw stable rug on overnight for a while now as he tends to feel the cold a bit. He's a right hairy horror tho and isn't clipped.
Mums mare is currently on box rest (so not clipped either) and has a fleece on in the day if it's chilly then again, lw rug on at night.

out 24/7 365 and clipped
rugs depends on weather.... but basically at the mo:
night:
MW half neck unless frosty = then HW combo
day:
MW half neck during day if cold ish (under 10)
if over 10 then LW with fill no neck

we've had hard frosts already up here but then the other day was 19'C!!! today it's 11'C with bitter cold wind so in half neck MW...

Scoobs is clipped and lives out 24/7. He has a MW/HW (it's either a heavy medium or a light heavy) turnout rug with a full neck overnight, and in the daytime he just wears a fly sheet to stop him scratching his bum raw. If it starts to get really cold (we haven't had any frosts yet), I might put a thin fleece under his turnout for the night. His ears are really fuzzy but most of him is clipped, so I find it hard to tell if he's warm enough!

my tb x has a high trace out 24/7 in 200grm over night and a 40grm through the day unless really cold, but after the weather today, she's coming in at night from tonight onwards!!!! I was hoping to leave her out until the end of the month but I suppose I've managed until now!! Normally had her in in september!! I've tried to be harder this year as she was with foal at foot until two weeks ago!! My foals/weanlings are both out 24/7 with no rugs!

Ted isn't clipped, but isn't hairy and has very fine hair...

He's in a MW stable rug during the night
and MW turn out rug during the day.

Thinking about adding the fleece to his stable rug soon, as he does feel the cold - bless!

My native pony has a low chaser clip and as he is a fat boy who could do with loosing a few kilos who has just been turned out on to lovely winter grazing and has a field shelter is only out in a LW. I am hoping he might lose some weight keeping warm.

He does have warmer rugs but they are being saved for once it gets really cold as last year it got down to -12 at nights.

Mine is staying out this year so trying to toughen him up! He is in a 100g rug 24/7 with no neck. He isn't clipped but we have had fairly regular ground frost in the mornings.
Starting to contemplate the m/w though!

Mine is in at night and out in the day and she has a bib and belly clip, she has a light weight turn out on during the day, and a light weight quilt on at night - she's definatly warm enough during the day but I'm starting to think she should be in more overnight.

My pampered WBxTB 2 year old is in a Rambo Duo without the liner (so 200g) at night and in a Rhino light during the day, unless is blazing sunshine - then nothing during the day. She's obviously not clipped but has a fine coat and really feels the cold. The 2 year old TBxID gelding, however, is wearing nothing ATM. He grows a lovely thick coat and doesn't need anything until it's colder, and wet and windy.

I always thought I rugged lightly but evidently not! Woosey warmblood is not clipped as no coat to speak of and is in 100gm full neck atable with either 200gm over it on warm nights or 300gm with neck cover over it when near freezing. In day he's in 2500gms with neck cover. Little hairy ponies in lw turnouts and one fleece each when it's cold/wet otherwise naked.

I must be such a cruel owner!!

My IDxTB 17hh monster is hunter clipper and is out during the day in a cotton sheet with a LW full neck TO over the top. He is in at night and has the cotton sheet on with a 110g filling full neck stable rug on. I arrived at the yard tonight at 7pm, YO has left him in just the cotton sheet and he was too warm. So, I figure if he's too warm in just a cotton sheet at 7pm then he will be fine overnight with 1 extra LW on top.

He gets adlib haylage overnight so he has plenty of fuel in his belly to keep him warm anyway.
