Well, we found a judge at the very last minute (thanks to all who PM'd me with suggestions), the weather forecast was sunny and I managed to persuade the comapny I work full time for to sponsor the event and match all donations... Phew!
For those who don't know, our format was a little different:
~ Begin with a 20 minute intensive warm-up session with Edward Creamer
~ Then ride through a test of your choice. However, the test chosen had to be a level above what you are currently competing at.
~ Tests will be judged and prizes will be awarded to the highest percentages gained
~ There were also some ‘special’ prizes awarded!
~ Fancy dress was optional, but highly recommended
~ Extra collectives were given for 'Christmas Spirit and Effort'
We had a whole range of levels, from walk and trot tests, to advanced. It was £15 to enter and refreshments were on sale throughout the day. ALL proceeds went to The Emile Faurie Foundation.
I was totally taken aback firstly by the effort that went into the fancy dress (see pics below!) and secondly the generosity shown by everyone involved.
The prizes awarded were:
Winner - Morning Section
Winner - Afternoon Section (won by Golden_Match!)
Fancy Dress Award
Only 10 of the Day Award
Best Concentration Face Award
Hunter to Dressage Diva Award
Coping Well When Dozy Pony Transformed into a Racehorse Award
Bravery Award (this was awarded becauce the girl in question fell off three times in one lesson earlier on in the week)
Least Christmasy/Scrooge Award
Most Tolerant Horse Award (Floradora09's Winston, report here: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=10256032#post10256032 )
Dressage Queen of the Yard Award
The pics were taken by budding photographer James Pittard.
The instructor - yes, he taught like this all day!
Mulled wine and mince pies in the sun
Juice (one of our racehorses in for retraining) and Ambra - The Only 10 of the Day Award (Apologies for the lack of hat - we had NO idea she was going to do that!!):
Anonio and Brandy - Winners in the morning (77%):
Lady - Her rider won the Coping Well When Dozy Pony Transformed into a Racehorse Award (we did remove the head dress as I don't think it was helping!!)
Our groom was even dressed up (horse unimpressed to say the least!):
Caroline and Wiz - Winners of the hotly contested Fancy Dress Prize:
Golden_Match's Tam dressed as a Christmas tree - Winners in the afternoon (73%):
And this is my favourite series of shots - Emma and Esso: Dressage Queen of the Yard Award (and stickiest bum!):
And then she finished off her test (Advanced 100) beautifully as though nothing had happened!!
SO, a MASSIVE thank you to all who were involved (many of them are lurkers on here!) and I can proudly announce that in total, we raised...
£485 for The Emile Faurie Foundation!!!
Well done all!
